Flashpackers Hervey Bay

One of the best hostels I've stayed at. Overall there are a lot of pros, and a few cons, but the friendly staff and atmosphere and overall social vibe of the hostel makes up for any cons of the place! 10/10

Lovely little hostel. Nice communal space, with large walk-in fridge, lots of dry storage space, many burners to cook on, and a lot of countertop space for cooking. It’s the first hostel where I felt like I had enough kitchen and fridge space. The room was small for six beds, but it was only an issue one night when there were travelers with lots of luggage. The luggage storage area in reception is secure, and the staff offer excellent service in all regards.

This hostel did its job but was definitely not one I would go back to. The staff were friendly and they did offers a free shuttle bus. However the hostel was really ran down and needed some work/ cleaning. The rooms and bed were also quite gross. Before going to bed I noticed their were tons of ants crawling in my bed a woke up with a lot of bites on my legs. Overall the hostel just needs some up keeping.

Nice large communal areas both indoor and outdoor. Lots of different areas to sit. The walk in fridge is good and well thought out that there is another fridge outside to store food if you need to access it outside of the kitchen opening times. Having free breakfast included is awesome.The shuttle picking you up from the greyhound is a nice touch too.Pool area has loungers and activities (balls, darts board, cards etc) laid out in the communal areas for everyone to use which is nice.I booked a 4 bed dorm and was put in a 7 bed dorm, but once I spoke to reception they were quick to move me to a 4 bed dorm without any issues.Toilet, shower and sink all separate in each dorm which is good as it means it doesn’t stop others using them when you’re using one (If I’m showing, they can still use the toilet and sink etc)Nice and close to the beach which is great.Pugs and lights by each bed.No lockers in the rooms is a big one for me. I hate having to carry all my valuables around with me as there is no safe place to keep them. Well there are cabinets in the room with locks built in but you are not provided with the key so I assume this comes at an extra cost.It is far away from the shops so a nightmare to go food shopping but I timed it so I walked 45mins to the shops then booked the shuttle bus back at 5:30pm. Still inconvenient though but I guess if you’re only staying 1 or 2 nights it isn’t so much of an issue.Some of the beds are really squeaky. My first room was not but second room was very bad. Anytime someone moves slightly the bed was very rickety and it makes a lot of noise.Events ran in the evening but no where said when each event was on meaning I’d brought dinner for when sausage sizzle was on. Or the few posters that were up said the wrong days for the events.Overall, the staff were super lovely and always happy to help. The place offered a lot considering how little you pay for it. I’d definitely go back here again.

One of the better places we have stayed at cool room to keep your essentials cold great share kitchen free breakfast if required every morning, great pool and rooms of 4 had our own bathroom shower, would highly recommend staying here.

Was surprised by complimentary shuttle arrangement. Wasn’t expecting that at all, we’ve already booked a taxi on our way and the staff just came out surprisingly waiting to pick us up Ron the bus station. Soooo kind! And free house wine!Also, I was given a really nice room(no. 14), clean and tidy, smell fresh.Staff are friendly and kind. It’s not a party hostel for sure. But with those staff put lots of effort just to make you feel welcomed, I mean, what else do you want?

Cheap hostel for one night stay. Had an odd vibe and is a little bit dated - could do with a refresh.Also our friends left their bags in storage and they got soaked during a storm. It had their electronics and documents in so was a nightmare.The staff were friendly but never seemed to be available.Rooms had aircon and were comfy though.

Cosy small hostel in Hervey bay.The room is spacious and has a toilet inside but the sink is open so if you brush your teeth all the people sleeping can hear you. The toilet smells a bit too much even after housekeeping cleaned it. But in general, the whole place is very tidy and clean. There are no lockers unfortunately.The kitchen is super nice. It has an oven, microwave, toaster and not much more. But the breakfast is included from 6 to 9. It consists of bread, cereal and milk. Very good thing for the price.The shelves has rooms number so everything is tidy and easy to access. The common area is big for the amount of dorms (only 14) which I find very positive. There is a TV, a pool, a pool table, smoking area outside, toilets, Cinema.Every bed has a socket for chargers (very useful) and also a lamp with low intensity light (very useful too!!).Unluckily the mattress where I slept in was terrible. It's like it's made of metal springs only. But clean and no bugs. So it wasn't that bad.Very good WiFi connection even inside the dorms.Laundry costs 4 dollis, dryer 3. It has a parking space and close to the beach.

We booked two beds in a dorm and everything looked fine.For one of the beds, sheets were pretty dirty.Kitchen is big, so there is enough space for everybody and Toilets were clean.So far, everything was good.
