Yep I can confirm that this place lives up to its notorious reputation. I’ve been to about 20 shops in Hahndorf, all were extremely warm and welcoming until I came to this spot. Seriously don’t understand why they won’t allow photos in the shop, it can only boost their business but hell I just went ahead anyway.In all seriousness, charm free staff and expensive produce. Was in and out in 2 mins.

Not sure why this place is getting negative reviews. Went to get a beer glass and some sausages and the lady was so nice and funny. The sausages tastes awesome.There was a request not to photograph the items. I fully respect the owners wishes. Everyone should. Will be definitely back.

Absolutely disgusted by our experience today at the German Pantry. We understand the policy for the “No photos”. My husband took his phone out to check his bank balance to purchase an item. The lady shop owner came barging towards and proceeded to yell and make a scene in front of other customers, saying no photos. At any point we didn’t take any photos. She didn’t apologise, and continued with her terrible service. We contemplated even buying from the store. Don’t recommend coming here. There are far more better places to visit in the town.Please, please don’t don’t support this shop nor give it any revenue!

Absolutely disgusting customer service. The rudest person I have ever come across in hospitality . I can understand all the bad reviews. If I could give a minus review I would such a shame to have someone like that in such a lovely town. Don’t bother to stop here

went into the shop to have a look around + potentially buy something and since almost every product has only german writing on it i went to use google translate in hopes to understand what it is i am looking at. in the process of doing so i was rudely asked if i was taking a photo when i clearly didn’t have my camera opened on my phone. i was immediately disgusted and appalled with such attitude this lady gave to me and immediately left the store. will not be returning in future visits to hahndorf.

Old lady at the counter was unbelievably rude. Dont think the service industry is suitable for her. Yelled at customers to not take any pictures when no one even wanted to take any. Would never recommend anyone to visit. Brings shame to a great tourist area like Hahndorf

Tell me you thought you operated a Karen's Diner without telling me!!!!Visit only if you are looking for an incredibly UNPLEASANT experience! If you like extremely RUDE service, appalling communication, OVER PRICED and out of date products then this is the place. If that is not your thing DO NOT PATRONISE this shop. Providing quality service and valuing customers is not what The German Pantry is about but with over 150 reviews averaging 2 stars (only because most of us are unable to give zero) and not one response from the owner will tell you that.

The woman in this shop is so incredibly rude. Why not act like a saleswoman and encourage people to promote your goods. Maybe they would actually buy something rather than feeling unwelcome and told off. I took a photo of white sausage to send to my German friend so they would come here, I was literally going to recommend that they visit and instead when she got mad at me, I decided to pass on to everyone how rude she was rather than asking my friend to visit. I also didn't buy anything even though I ended to pick something up for dinner, just because she was really rude. This woman is a bit of a ding dong if she thinks she can hold off photos in the instagram and google reviews age. Guess what lady, your produce isn't unique! Everyone has sausages and German sauces these days.

Despite reading other reviews here I had a positive experience when I stopped in to buy a beer glass and some sausages. If you simply respect the owners request for no photography you should have a good experience. Prices can be a bit expensive but everywhere else I went in Hahndorf was. The beer glass I purchased would be twice the price in Brisbane it must be said.

The comments here are some sort of therapy for me after my experience with the woman behind the counter. Next level rudeness. Would not recommend BUT go to the bakery across the road with the pretzel out the front called The German Cake Shop" Amazing amazing service! They brightened my experience!"
