Anna's work is a beautiful but thought provoking exploration of settler alienation from Australian animals

Anna has show at Jervis Bay Maritime Museum right now December 2020 for 3 months. It’s a quirky exploration of so many views of Australia and its wildlife. It will get you chewing over the bits you should look at twice or three times. With the most wonderful sense of line and perspective.

Anna’s works remind us of our history and the impact of the white settlement upon our flora and fauna. These images remain vivid in my mind as the grace and dignity she forces you to appreciate. It’s also a lesson for younger generations to know what animals we had that are now lost. The détail of Anna’s work is stunning. Pictures within pictures.Inspiring and beautifully crafted. And always with a story.Anna’s visual work is also stunning - the video shows the devastation wreaked upon our land - and the gentle return of flora after a long and harsh bushfire and drought. This is now going to Parliament House for a statement to our country. Be sure to see it if you can.

I am lucky to have three fabulous works from this amazing artist! I met Anna about 27 years ago and have witnessed the growth in her technique, style and the way she approaches and executes multi-layered depth of meanings in her choice of subjects. She is both quirky and serious in the way she depicts things. The passion she feels for her subject matter is abundantly clear in her work and I love that about her.

Anna Glynn is a passionate, hard working and highly professional visual artist. I've known Anna since the second half of 2013, when she was Art-in-Residence in the Visual Studies Department at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. As an Assistant Professor in that department, I was lucky enough to work closely with Anna, and have followed her work with great interest ever since. As well as being an accomplished artist, Anna is an inspired and generous teacher and artistic collaborator who has a great sense of fun.Of the spectacular exhibition, entitled 'Wonderment', that Anna presented at Lingnan, I wrote: 'Elegant beasts crane their necks skyward, balance on impossibly fragile legs, rabbits somersault beneath moonlit trees. Anna Glynn’s animals occupy idiosyncratic landscapes that remind us of traditional Chinese ink paintings, of the Australian bush, of fables and fairy tales. Anna’s animals present as human: they strut, they posture, they strike quirky poses. Yet while their silhouettes are sometimes paper-cut sharp, their translucent bodies are marbled by the soft tides of spreading ink that the artist also uses to render their habitat: trees, ground, clouds and sky.'
