Tomaree National Park
This 'must do' walk starts only minutes from the Shoal Bay foreshore with plenty of parking at the base. The walk starts with a moderate ascent up a paved track until you reach a series of stairs and winding track that takes you to the summit where you enjoy spectacular views of Nelson Bay in one direction, Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens in another and all the way to Newcastle in another. The viewing platform is safely fenced as is the majority of the track. Anyone can attempt the walk however I'd recommend a basic level of fitness and mobility to enjoy it fully. The return walk took us just over an hour at a steady pace.

Tomaree Mountain located at the end of Shoal Bay, incredible view for many miles in all directions, amazing photo opportunities. Climbing the mountain is a popular activity with both tourists and locals alike, can be a little narrow in places but that's not really a problem except when it's crowded. The 1.1km climb to the top is quite steep and depending on your pace can take between a cracking 20 minutes to a leisurely hour (roughly the same on the way back down).

It is quite a long walk but there is a good mix of slope and stairs to climb on . Definitely worth the climb !

Tomaree head summit walk - Best place to visit in Nelson Bay Area. approx. 1 km distance with flat, steep and stairs mix. but after all those efforts, you will see the amazing view with easily visible dolphins, if you are luck enough as I was. please check out the attached photos and enjoy the place while sitting at home ;)

A must see when in the area. We had a cloudy day at first but got lucky and were rewarded with some sun in the end. Heaps of stuff to do including a visit to the WW2 defence gun site and the top of the Tomaree hill.

Beautiful walk around the national park. The walk which is mild to moderate Intensity takes you to historical ww 1 gun embankments, there's also a path to the summit which is about 30 minutes intensity with a mixture of gravel path, steps and steel bridges.you are absolutely rewarded on the top. Kid friendly walk
