If you don’t really care about your loved one, then this is the place to put them, as there isn’t any real care here….Staff shortages and inexperienced staff causes family too much stress. For 3 years, we constantly complained to management about the issues, from mum being given inappropriate food, never having her teeth cleaned, not washed properly causing rashes. Don’t get me started on the number of falls, broken collar bone and fractured wrist…They never identified any issues or concerns….left it to us to question everything and try and find solutions, which didn’t ever come to fruition. There’s no option for zero stars, so you only get one star.

Both my parents have had excellent care at Blue Cross Box Hill. The nursing & support staff are just outstanding & I receive excellent communication on any changes to the health or management of my Mum & Dad. The negative reviews below are just so far from the truth you must wonder about their motives. The facilities are excellent. Highly recommended.

Box Hill Blue Cross is in an especially good location for mums family to visit. A welcoming entrance, a good sized comfortable bedroom surrounded by plenty of lounge areas and lovely courtyards. The staff are very friendly, caring and welcoming not only to residents but to families. Regular emails/newsletters keep us updated. Activities that are provided are very beneficial for the residents wellbeing. The dining room and activity areas are a great place for our elderly to gather as a group for meals and especially for company. In general a very good environment.

my mother is a resident at Blue cross and the staff are just great, they are caring and attentive, my mother has never been happier - her favourite carer is Ping who always has a smile as does all the staff. Such a lovely modern residence!

We sadly had to move our mum Imelda here as she was no longer able to live at home. After the initial settling in period for her and us, we have found Bluecross Box Hill to be wonderful. The staff are lovely, we can visit anytime. It’s always clean and the food looks really good. Mum hasn’t lost any weight. As my mother put it “everyone likes me here” . I think that say it all!

A very welcoming environment with caring competent staff in a functional, modern facility. Families appreciate the way they are always informed about activities and any changes to routine. A very pleasant place to be, offering good care to residents.

My husband was only at Blue Cross for a few weeks before he passed away, but he was very well cared for during that time, especially on the night he died, as the nurses and carers on duty were so very kind and gentle, not only caring for my husband, but also making sure I was alright as well. It is a lovely facility and I recommend it to anyone who need to find a home away from home for a family member.

-Aesthetically pleasing, clean and smells nice. Rooms are a decent size with good views and natural light. There are some nice gardens around the grounds.-They seems to have a lot of group activities and opportunities for the residents to get involved. However I don’t think the activities were that inclusive for those with hearing and vision loss.- According to my late father the food was barley edible and this seemed to be a view held by many of the residents.- There are a hand full of really lovely staff however they seemed to be having staffing issues during my dads stay which resulted in a lot of inexperienced international staff caring for him.- Clothes often went missing- Staff often used unsafe manual handling practises that don’t promote dignity of the residents such as sliding them up the bed using their pants.- Staff had to be constantly reminded to do basic things like put hearing aids in and putting call bells within reach.Add on: I have sent a detailed outline of concerns to email provided in blue cross’s response to my review. Am yet to hear back from them months later.

Best decision we have made for my father during this pandemic. Such a relief to know that Dad is in a happy and safe environment. Thank you to all the staff for making this difficult time a much easier process with all their professional and emotional help.
