Although basic accomodation with shared bathrooms, everything was exceptionally clean and very comfy. Lovely period hotel with open fires, great wine list and food. Fantastic location and friendly staff. Happily come back. Thanks

Do not recommend to dine in. Pretty disappointing experience. Tanswell’s offers no table service which ordinarily is okay in a pub like environment. However, hovering in a crowded walkway for 25 minutes with no direction or signage indicating where to go is not acceptable nor functional. (Keep in mind this is just to order food, one has to order drinks separately at the bar)It would be easier on staff and patrons for each section to be managed accordingly, considering one is paying restaurant prices.Rude and indifferent service with some staff. Particularly the female hostess taking orders/bookings in the corridor.No paper towel in the women’s bathroom. Bathroom doors that don’t lock.No music or background ambiance until the band started. Put on a playlist.Tanswells saving grace was a nice male staff member (cap, longer hair and beard). As well as nice country food and decor.If you’re determined to visit, stick to a drink.

We dined here with a group of 6 last Thursday night. The place has changed for the better, new owners, delicious food and fresh decor. Would definitely recommend. My hubby and I had the veal and I had the lamb rack and a veges to share, best we've had in ages.

We ordered a Venison burger and Beef strip loin for dinner. The burger was good and the steak was a little dry but tasted alright. A little bit rough that they charge $3 for sauce on what would have been a too dry a meal.

The rooms are super comfortable and amazing value. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Beechworth. Perfect location, down to earth vibes, and you're walking distance from everywhere you want to go. Incredible food. We were looked after for a big group dinner on a busy Saturday night and we were so impressed. The whole team is friendly and helpful, making us all feel so welcome.

Great food. We had sour dough with garlic as a shared entree, I had the fish & chips & son had the pork strap. Delicious food, prompt service by cheerful staff & very reasonable prices.We didn't stay in a room here, but will next time

Good place for a meal on a Tuesday night in Beechworth. Haven't been here for over 10 years but it has maintained a great standard of food and service. Exceptional local wine list by the glass but didn't get to try them as I was driving. Standout on the menu was the yabbies as an starter. Decent sized serve and well cooked.

Really enjoyed the night here! Of course it was mainly of who I was with, but we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal.We shared the beef and lamb racks, plus about 5 sides, with bread beforehand. And the 4 of us are almost all of it. The meat was so tender and delicious and the sides complemented the meat perfectly.There is a great wine list to choose from, but they only had 2 desserts which was a little disappointing. I had the white chocolate moose with blood orange. I'm not a fan of citrus so I just picked it off. The moose was nice but very sweet. And had a few lumps of gelatin in it.The service was friendly and helpful, although they never came back after giving us the drink menu again during dinner. But, I could have also got up and asked.Overall, we loved it and will most likely go there again.

Food & service was absolutely amazing. I booked for dinner as vegan, and the chef made me a “veggie stack” which was bloody amazing! And I didn’t expect them to go above & beyond like that. Thank you! We all loved our food
