The experience started at the door. Almost hidden, nothing written outside, you have to get closer for it to open. When inside, it feels pitch black, your eyes need time to adjust and discover the incredible gothic style of this Mexican inspired crypt. Very unique.We ordered tacos and sides, and were very happy with the taste, but we got blown away by the desserts, the chocolate tart is a must try.

Had an amazing dining experience that was five-star in everything. The food, ambience and staffs were all exceptional.We initially had a booking at 7.30pm, but had to delay it twice because our hike did not go as planned. However, the staff at the restaurant were exceptionally helpful and patient to help me sort out all the issues.We ordered the soft shell crab taco, lamb quesadilla, and the chicken as the main dish. Every dish was cooked so nicely. The soft shell crab was crunchy but not hard, the lamb was juicy with the sauce, and the chicken was tender with a crispy layer outside. The churros was yummy too, but unfortunately we were too full to finish all of them :(The restaurant had an amazing ambience as well and gave us an amazing night. Would strongly recommend it to anyone who is interested!

Great Paloma and fun smoky flavors on the drinks! Food was okay but not very authentic or easy to understand. The interior decor was beautiful and server was helpful.

Absolutely gorgeous Mexican restaurant. The food was absolutely delightful and the cocktails were art. We would definitely recommend anyone to add this gem to their hit list. Delicious!

Had a great time here whilst visiting Hobart. All of the food was absolutely delicious, well thought through and presented beautifully. Cocktails were great too. Our female server was super friendly and was enthusiastic about the menu. The atmosphere was fantastic too! We felt that the prices for each dish were very fair. The cauliflower dish was the stand out (surprisingly)

My family and I were lucky to dine this week and WOW! The service, the cocktails but most importantly the food was A M A Z I N G. My hubby and I had the set menu accompanied with a variety of delicious signature cocktails, whilst our three children had a mix of small plates.We have travelled and dined in a lot of places. Poncho Villa is up there with the best.We highly recommend and will definitely be back when next in Hobart.Thank you Team Pancho

Feel like eating in the dark tomb which is exotic experience. Foods were lovely. Cocktails are well designed and tasteful. The atmosphere itself was overwhelming enough to get fascinated. Great place for a dinner or party.

Wow! Awesome Mexican food in the heart of North Hobart.A fairly unassuming entrance reveals a church-inspired interior with stain glass and heaps of cool decor.Cocktails were delicious and there was a nice selection of both local and Latin American wines.Veggie nachos were a highlight, but our tacos and sides of potatoes and broccolini were also delicious.

We come here every time we are in Hobart the food and creative menu is exceptional, and if you like a fancy cocktail (usually with flames involved) then don’t miss coming here.The decor and lighting makes the space such a fun dining out experience.They are also super about checking for nuts due to an allergy and came out to explain how ingredients were stored. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options too.
