Unfortunate share of reviews about this place. Great inner-city hardware store with 95% of things you would ever need. The older genetleman running this place can be somewhat brash, however he has exceptional knowledge of tools and material and is quite happy to spend time to find you what you are looking for. Will be my first point of enquiry for the future, given that it is so close!

Service ok I guess. Sub standard.Prices - ridiculously over marked.Not very female friendly as observed.Personally I'd invest more time & go to Bunnings. At least there you'll get a friendly smile & a positive attitude/ response.

Carroll’s is a Old School Hardware store.Many people may be offended by old’s Peter sarcasm, but he is sure a good heart person and a very wise man to get an advise.The store is and old fashioned looking one, but it has plenty of tools and general stuff.I highly recommend and Im sure theres no other place near Darlinghurst which you will get better advices.

After reading the reviews, I knew exactly what should I expect from the store. And it still annoyed me when a woman who claimed she doesn’t really work there, but she works there offered some really unhelpful assistance. Then the elder man provided the most unwelcoming service and comments on my questions…. Not sure why this business exists here

Appalling service!!! Should have know they sell faulty items when the boxes seem to have been tampered and use of sticky tape to seal the boxes. Bought a specific light bulb which cost $25 which I had to return the next day as it was not working. The old man declined to exchange for a new one and said it was up to the light manufacturer to reimburse me?!?!Don’t bother buying anything there when you don’t have the guarantee the products are functional

Only once there are no white, male trades people within 100 meters of the store will the owner grudgingly accept you are there after your fifth attempt to get his attention.Then he will laugh at you, tell you you are wrong and or mentally ill and act as if it is an act of the greatest charity to take your money for his substandard, overpriced goods.Most of the time he is too busy talking to his friends about how much he hates the Chinese.Only go here for the theater of the absurd.

I’ve been here several times and yes at times he may come across a bit rude and cheeky but he is certainly not unhelpful nor is he as unpleasant as all these people writing one star reviews try to make him out to be. It’s a hardware store not a hotel.
