SCRAP THE SCHOOL CATCHMENT AREAS FOR CHILDREN OF SCHOOL AGE REQUIRING ASSISTANCE AND LET THEM HAVE A CHANCE AT A BETTER FUTURE BY RECEIVING THE HELP THEY NEED RIGHT FROM THE START!!!We happen to moving apparently just on the border of their intake catchment area - to our surprise as the school is literally only 26 m further away from our new house than the other primary school who still send kids to Challis centre yet we were denied even an application of asking to enrol our sons or submit ones... 6m difference makes a world of difference when there are things like school catchment areas, what about catchment areas for children who are able to attend regular school but need assistance, should they not have priority to the services they provide in our area? You see this is the Challis school provides the accommodated education my sons need likewise understanding of my sons disabilities as well as have access to it's resources on site. My sons are both physically disabled (congenitally inherited my type of severe EDS) both are highly functional autistic plus super intelligent, however they but need help from this schools speech-, and OT services as they also suffer from a very rare congenital connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Classical Type 1/hybrid Severe Hypermobility h-EDS as mentioned before which affect all in your body makeup is collagen which the whole body is made up of basically, so as their bodies like mine and my children this impact everything they will ever attempt doing and we suffer from spontaneous excruciating dislocations, blood vessel ruptures incl. arterial ones, severe bruising, digestive system GI issues, subluxations without any accidental trauma attributed to the incident of such and they occur countless times throughout both day and night disrupting their lives and sleep too. Our bones are soft and fragile is made worse by osteopenia/osteoporosis as severe trauma and fractures is hugely likely to occur if we fall especially as we dislocate so easily and can be as simple as holding a pencil which is beyond painful as our ligaments too are affected. We suffer brain-fog as a result of all the focus our mind has to put on our muscles to try to keep ourselves from dislocations which is bluntly exhausting which is why we also have CFS, Fibromyalgia and a long list of conditions that stem from EDS incl. POTS obviously being this hypermobile is dangerous as we actually have so much movement in our cervical spine likewise all joints, ligaments, tendons muscle fibres that tear daily and our bodies are working a never ending battle that we can't win, for instance to dislodge our heads from our spinal column and break our necks by just turning our heads a bit too far, which btw we never resize until we've done it and the pains set in. Sadly, I never got the chance to receive the help when I was little so wanted to ensure they do as there are more kids like mine that need this help and shouldn't be restricted by nonchalant and discriminatory school catchment areas, a child should indesputably attend a school which best suit the needs for the child and be allowed enrolment access to such especially based on criterias like for instance their disabilities, need of Speechtherapy as they struggle to speak as their tongue all is way too hypermobile making communicating verbally and with clarity pronounce words likewise difficult for the children as well as the need for daily accomodated help too thrive and do well with support from the school OT and assisting aids!I'm frustrated as a mother knowing that they don't even do what other schools offer, out of catchment area enrollment based on how full the school is or not. This is discrimination as well as it segregates our community... We should strive to always prioritize our young to ensure they'll be able to look after themselves and not restrict them by these boundary lines, makes me feel sick really as it's rather similar to how refugee camps are set up that too is zoned based or areas, and with that said we don't get a say :(

My son had some bad experiences with both teachers and bullies until coming to Challis. He has never been happier! Can't say enough about how good the school is, and the teachers are excellent. I plan to send all my kids there :)

My children attended challis for nearly 3 years and I regret ever putting them in there. Since combining ECEC and the primary school the school itself feels inadequate to cope with the amount of students.Bullying not only by other students but by TEACHERS is what led me to pull them out.It was rife in this school and the way they deal with it was to sweep it under a rug and blame the parent or child. My daughter was stuck with a teacher that could not spell nor read. In my personal opinion he should never have been around children as he was always so angry and disrespectful towards them. Never encouraging and my daughter suffered because of it.It took them 1 year to listen to complaining parents to get rid of him, and to this day I kick myself for putting up with it for as long as I did.Now as for the school structure itself, the back carpark is atrocious and something needs to be done before there is a fatality caused by either a student being run over or a fist fight breaking out. Some classrooms during 45° weather are without any air conditioning and the poor kids have to swelter through. Also the classes are in desperate need of some colour. All drab, no wonder the kids look so miserable on pickup.I would rather homeschool both of my kids than have to place them in this school again.
