Service was goodFood was very good but as a personal preference I enjoyed the entrée a lot more than the mainsKangaroo and mushroom had great flavour and can't be faulted. It did not taste gamy like other roos I've had before. The truffles really lifted the artichoke dish and I loved the smoky flavour from grilled vegetableThe mackerel was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin. I think it tasted great but needed a different sauce (like kimchi liquid) to take it to the next level and make it a memorable dish. The bundarra pork belly was not a great cut as I had expected that I could cut through it without much effort with the special knife. That wasn't the case as it took effort to cut and was chewy to eat. The crackling that it came with was amazing and that was the highlight for that dish. The knife which can be bought wasn't sharp enough to cut the green parts of the radish which was strange. The dessert was pleasant.Full credits to the chef as it's not easy to cook with fire. I'm giving it 4 stars as this is fine dining but 3 of the 5 courses (whilst cooked well) were just not memorable which talks to being creative with flavour pairing. The vegetables were all great when roasted and a real pleasant surprise.

Firedoor is a culinary gem. The restaurant's focus on wood-fired cooking creates a unique and delicious dining experience. The flavors of the dishes are elevated by the smoky aroma and expertly executed techniques. The menu showcases a variety of locally sourced ingredients, resulting in dishes that are both creative and satisfying. The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a memorable meal.

Visited this fine establishment greeting with warm smiles and promptly seated. The menu was explained well and each course arrived with a pairing. The food was some of the most amazing that I have had in a long time. Certainly fine dining and left with a full belly.Food cooked as requested.A friend of ours had arrange a bottle of bubbles to be on our table upon arrival and had paid for it. Unfortunately this didn’t happen not really sure why.Room was quite warm, however some windows opened mid service helped the room cool a little.Otherwise a great experience

I've held off on writing this review but i need to be true to myself and others. Where do i begin, I was looking forward to the booking and unfortunately it was so disappointing. Not the cheapest dinner, but we are happy to pay for great food, however food was not good, pork was under cooked and lots of fat that we couldn't eat, fish was nice but being served in a burnt paperbark piece, it had burnt paperbark and unburnt paperbark all on the fish so we had to pick the paperbark pieces off the fish and when eating the fish, you could taste the fish with a hint of burnt paperbark not smokey. Everything was under seasoned, we had to ask for extra salt. There was not 1 dish that was a stand out, we all left so disappointed. The service was amazing, the menu needs to be reviewed and changed imo.

Where to start with this restaurant!ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! 20/10.I honestly could not fault this place & I am a harsh critic. Each dish was impeccable. The extent of the flavors were next level. Serving sizes were appropriate given the amount of courses, we left feeling just right. Service was extremely attentive. Cocktail menu was fabulous. Can’t wait to dine with you again!

Such a long wait but finally managed to eat here! Was really excited to dine here. Firstly food was amazing overall, dessert was my least fav dish. The artichoke dish was a surprise stand out for me. However where the let down was for me was the service… fine dining food but not the service to match. Had an 8.30pm seating… one hour before first entree, then another 45 mins for the second entree. We were starving! The whole 5 courses took 3 hours. Eating the delicious wagyu at 11pm was far too late. Service should have been a little quicker. Also had different waiters throughout the night, no wine help….

Delicious enough, but overpriced. The place is overrated. Out of the 5 dishes in the $175 set menu, I only really liked the dessert. We paid extra $400 for a 700g dry-aged steak so my share was $60 for a few bites of steak. That was the only really delicious thing I ate that night. All in all, I would not recommend for the price. If I paid $100 I would have been ok. The ambience is also pretty average.

It was supposed to be one of the best meals in my life but nothing stood out in my opinion. It took almost an hour from the time we were seated till we got the first dish, grilled peppers. For me, it was strange to start with peppers with an empty stomach, but I was optimistic. Then other dishes arrived and I was disappointed, because nothing’s worse than blowing a lot of money on food that aren’t very good… The crispy pork was the biggest let down, I didn’t expect to go to a 3 hatted restaurant for a dish my mum makes every week. The dry aged beef ($300) was good though.

Watched the Netflix review of this and listened to the hype around how the food was going to be heavenly but unfortunately (and perhaps it was just the menu for this night specifically), the offering really didn't match up to the 'Word on the street' - for which I was really quite sad; having waited 3 months to get in and try this place. The service is impeccable & the wait staff were quite remarkable with 'remembering' individual needs and preferences - definitely something I have experienced more off in Europe & not much off in Australia. The main menu (unusually) did not feature any beef as part of its staple, instead had their signature steak dishes as a premium extra (a very $$$$ premium). I found this to be quite odd given that you often associated 'BBQ' with some sort of Beef - of course it's amazing that all the other dishes are made on the Firepit along side that Beef but you expect to be served some Beef as part of the main course none the less.We tried the 200 day aged premium extra steak - it's quite rich and flavoursome. I quite liked it, however much of my group didn't fancy it very much due to the slightly unusual flavour. From the mains, what stood out for me was the Cauliflower dish and the eel starter - Delicious!!!The rest was rather basic unfortunately, including the sourdough , which turned out to be burnt more than charred - so we ordered a non cooked version of the same and that was really tasty! We were a bit sad that the initial serving came out burnt - given so many people talked about it!All in all, I would give the experience a 3 out of 5, given the wait time, pricing and finally the quality.Good for a one off experience & then on to the next!
