I can only speak from my own experience with Vets. What I recently found very comforting about their practise was that they are available in an emergency. It was the Easter weekend and I had seen a local vet prior. There was no emergency care available locally in Murray Bridge or Adelaide Hills. I had a very ill cat and could get no help, over a few days she deteriorated so much I had to put her to sleep, which Mount Barker Vet did on Easter Monday. At this time I was not a client of theirs, but they saw me anyhow. They did this with great care and kindness. My experience since with my other pets which had a check up and vaccines has also been positive. As an aged pensioner they gave me a discount which is a help also.

Mount Barker Veterinary Clinic
I have to agree with the other poor reviews. We have been clients of the Mt Barker Veterinary Clinic for around 16 years but over that time all we required of them was annual canine vaccinations.2 months ago our dog went off her food and started to become quite lethargic. Over a couple of week her conditioned deteriorated and I made a vet appointment. I explained the symptoms, the vet after a cursory check suggested a blood test which revealed nothing wrong, $340 for that visit. I returned 3 days later as the dogs condition was continuing to worsen. This time another vet at the practice who suggested the dog may have had a gut infection. A 6 day supply of tablets with no follow up or repeat. The dog did improve a bit over that 6 days but rapidly deteriorated once the tablets ran out so, yet another visit, this time an Ultrasound was required which shed no light on the dogs issues , and a 21 day course of steroids.....yet another $440By this time we have paid the Mt Barker Veterinary Clinic over $900 and we were getting nowhere, so I sought another Veterinary practice in the area and the new vet from the symptoms the dog was displaying immediately stated the dog indeed have a gut infection and was suffering from Chronic Pancreatitis, the result of a poorly balanced diet. He told me to immediately wean the dog off the steroid tablets she had been previously prescribed, started her on a new low fat diet and the dog has rapidly returned to her old self. The staff at the The Mt Barker Veterinary Clinic are very friendly and cheerful but, I am afraid poorly lacking in proper veterinarian skills. Their preoccupation appears to be in up-selling services rather than positive treatment. If all you want them for is annual vaccinations, they are fine but for anything more involved than that I suggest you look elsewhere for competent veterinary advice and treatment!
