Teal Timber Windows and Doors
When we were looking for someone to construct our front door and surrounds, I was concerned about the single negative review posted here. Having spoken to Teal and satisfying myself that they are professionals, we went ahead and engaged them. I’m happy to report now that not only are they professional, they are absolute master craftsmen and truly excellent service providers. My experience could not be more different to what the earlier negative reviewer posted - something is clearly amiss there. When looking for trades and craftspeople we had three criteria. Let me detail how Teal absolutely nailed all of these for us.1. WorkmanshipDion and team built us an absolutely beautiful door. The house is designed in a mid-century minimalist style and they totally got where we were coming from. There’s no visible frame on the door itself and no obvious fixings for the paneling (they are all hidden) - it is impossible to see how it all fits seamlessly together. The wood is beautiful, the width of all the panels is perfect, the stain spot on, the fittings tie in with other black elements on the house. All of these things were discussed in detail and Teal got it right first go.They worked closely with our builder so everything keyed in perfectly. From ensuring that expansion tolerances between concrete, glass and wood were all considered to shaving the doorstep accurately to ensure that one side met the decking boards and the other reduced rain egress – they were detail oriented. They measured and checked, double checked with us on the phone, liaised with our builder - in short, did absolutely everything to ensure a perfect job.On installation day, they delivered the door and it and slotted in perfectly without the builder having to make adjustments.Teal also built an internal sliding door for us. Same story… everything was perfect.2. ServiceWe’re on the Far North Coast and Teal staff came from Grafton to meet with us and take measurements etc. They were quoting repairs on some of their doors at another house in the area. This is an important digression. The repair was needed because some folks we know were renting the house and their new puppy chewed the door frames. This could have been a really difficult situation between tenants and landlord etc. Teal to the rescue - they quoted less than the tenants expected to repair and reassemble the door. Everyone was happy and that’s how they were recommended to us.More evidence of Teal’s fantastic approach; One of their staff had a temporary and unexpected health issue midway through our job. Dion took up the slack with no disruption to progress. He talked through everything with and communicated that there might be slight delay, and then delivered above expectations with no delay! For some perspective, we had another group (not Teal) build our commercial aluminium sliding doors and it was a debacle from start to finish: doors scratched in transit because they weren’t tied down properly, dodgy powdercoating that had to be redone, modifications after delivery because they measured incorrectly etc. So we know what it’s like when you don’t get good service. We didn’t have single problem with Teal. All of the folks we dealt with were lovely. They listened, conveyed expert advice, made clear promises and then delivered upon those promises.3. PriceTeal came back pleasantly less than the other providers we were considering. On delivery, they came in on budget. There were a couple of points where we splurged on nicer hardware (doorhandles etc.) and Teal priced those items openly without applying big markups. They also helped us stay on budget by letting us know every time if we were asking for something that might be a little more expensive. Even so, we came in tight on budget. To summarise, these guys are fantastic. We would not hesitate to engage them again. Our builder has added them to the top of his list of door suppliers too.Highly recommended!

I called nearly every joinery from the Northern Rivers to the Gold Coast when I was looking for doors and windows for our renovation. I was so relieved when I finally found Teal Windows. Their friendly, down-to-earth manner made it very easy to communicate what we wanted and get our order quoted and built quickly. The team at Teal Windows listened to our needs and provided us with all the information and options to help us make decisions to suit our project and our budget. Everything was easily sorted by phone and email. Our doors and windows have been beautifully crafted with premium timbers and quality hardware. I am confident there is no better option in Northern NSW.

Teal Windows is disappointed with the comments made in Dianne’s review. At Teal Windows cost Teal has willingly worked with the builder and the finish supplier to rectify the mould growth on the surface of Teal’s products which the finish supplier’s chemist advised is specifically related to the setting of Dianne’s house site. The same mould appears on other products at the house. Teal rectified the machine chatter on several doors at Teal’s expense in a timely manner. On inspection all fly screens were in order. Following a site visit the finish supplier has made recommendations to Dianne’s husband Martin to rectify the mould issue followed by Martin applying the finish coats. Teal Windows will continue to monitor the progress of all finish supplier’s recommendations and will always work to resolve customer issues to the satisfaction of both parties.

We are renovating an old farmhouse and wanted windows to match the existing ones. Jason was one of the few that took an genuine interest in our job, as we live off the beaten track. One of the best things about building is meeting awesome craftsmen. Jason is a skilled window maker, no doubt about it. I originally was going to use local blackbutt timber, but Jason advised us that it warps and moves a lot, on further investigation into this, I realised Jason was right and went with his recommendation of western red cedar, and I'm so glad I did. Nothing was too much trouble, and nothing was left to chance with Jason. Stunningly beautiful windows that make me smile every time I look at them.

Teal Timber Windows and Doors
Teal installed windows and doors in my home 25 years ago and they were, and still are, the highest quality joinery from the highest quality joiners. This is even more remarkable as I live in a beautiful, but very harsh environment, overlooking the ocean. The only significant deterioration has been to the screen door which is exposed to full sun, salt and wind constantly. I called Teal today to let them know the screen door was, after a quarter of a century, coming to them for repair or replacement. Teal have been a family owned and operated business for nearly 30 years and to my amazement I was both remembered and still in their system! Apart from being the very best at what they do Teal are an absolute delight to deal with and I could not recommend them more highly.

I was so impressed with the service and quality of product from Teal Windows. I ordered timber screens for two sets of french doors and timber casement windows. Custom made, they were so beautiful, solidly manufactured and the timber looked even better than I’d expected. I got a range of traditional brass hardware through Teal and the end result was stunning. Dion was very generous with his time and advice throughout the process. I thoroughly recommend this business, old school top quality craftsmanship and service. We need more of it!

Teal Timber Windows and Doors
In early 2021, I was searching for a high quality, full hard wood internal door to serve as both a feature and sound-proofing door to seperate the living area from the bedrooms. All of the standard or basic products I could find in Melbourne were either an MDF or thinner, lower quality timber door, that wouldn’t serve either purpose.Hence, I took my search further afield and came across Teal in Grafton - which appeared to produce and supply exactly what I was looking for. A high quality PNG Rosewood door, and Liz from Teal helped me select the correct size, thickness, stain/colour/finish as well as a sturdy & stylish matte black door handle. It’s a beautiful door (normally used as an entrance door) that’s extremely solid and completely separates the two distinct areas of the house both functionally and from noise. Door was extremely heavy but delivered without complication within a few weeks during a period experiencing the floods in NSW.Definitely recommend Teal for the quality of their products and Liz for her assistance and post-sales service.

Teal Timber Windows and Doors
When we built our home it was designed with lots of windows and doors opening on to outdoor decking. This was a quality build and we expected to pay accordingly. However the doors and windows were a complete let-down from the beginning. Teal windows were difficult to deal with and when ever there was an issue always shifted the blame elsewhere. When the doors and windows arrived they had chatter marks and after much blame shifting Dion reluctantly agreed to replace them. The builder we chose was working on a cost plus basis and we were then left with the extra expense of having them removed, the down time involved and then refitting. We paid an extra $10,000 to have the windows treated with oil as recommended by the oil specialists. This was obviously not done properly and now we have a mould issue. Once again Dion began blame shifting. He will not look at the problem without us paying a $350 plus GST call out fee plus travelling time of $90 per hour plus GST. We had fly wire fitted to all windows and doors leading outside, these are extremely flimsy and have not been fitted to the wood properly and are now all fraying. They cannot be cleaned as any pressure and they just peel away from the wood. As the builder was the client we cannot take legal action against Teal without involving the builder and are reluctant to do so as he took pride in his workmanship and did a really good build for us. He is as disappointed in Teals response as us.
