The cafe at the gardens is worth going to even if you’re not going to walk in the gardens. All food is made in house and a lot is Gluten Free.

These gardens are fabulous. Started in late 1800s ... who knew! Many awesome trees ... too big to Photograph well. The labelling and story boards are excellent.

The botanical Gardens in Cooktown is truly a beautiful place to escape the heatFull of beautiful Australian native plants it’s definitely a must see whilst travelling through CooktownAttached to the gardens is a short walk through to Finch Bay however people with mobility issues I recommend not to take this walk as it can be quite a treacherous walk.

Beautiful, well-maintained gardens in which to wander around. Definitely worth visiting if one is in Cairns. Great variety of plants and flowers. There were only a few visitors when we went, so we had a lovely relaxing walk, and the seating areas at key intervals were a nice touch to enjoy the peace and quiet and listen to the birds. They have a good cafe onsite as well, with great coffee and cake.

If in Cooktowm you must visit this small but impressive garden. No spoilers, but this garden is majestic and peaceful. On a hot day, it is far cooler than the surrounding parkland. The garden is divided into sections, and major plants or trees are identified. Pathways are clear and easy to walk on. Allow 1 to 2 hours to walk this lovely garden, but don't forget to collect your map from the Cafe Natures Powerhouse, and when finished, stop for a drink and slice of delicious cake.
