couple things to note when booking this dining experience:-don’t expect to pick your food-you might sit next to a stranger so be prepared to chat with someone you’ve never met. the space is small and intimate.-get there at 6 and plan to leave by 8 (if you’re on the early sitting.-relax and enjoy the food in front of you.the whole thing is a beautifully orchestrated with 24 place settings. everyone sits down at the same time and the courses are brought out nearly at the same time.i only counted 4 staff in the restaurant and for the 2 hours we were there, they were hustling.the house wines were fabulous - we had the orange “flowerpot” and the templo pet nat. natural wine can be 50/50 but both were excellent.every dish was remarkable. having eaten at faro the night prior, i went in with sort of course expectations. imo, templo’s food was better overall and comparing the two isn’t really fair. eating at templo felt focused on the food and flavor itself — even having the blinds drawn made it feel hyper focused. all parties in our group left feeling absolutely full.as a person who mostly eats vego, i was even more impressed that the tortellini and porterhouse were probably my favorite in the lineup.absolutely would recommend this to anyone open to trying all sorts of amazing food w/o diet restrictions — though i think they can accommodate for some. the food is expensive, but worth it.

An interesting 6 course menu using seasonal, local produce. Stand outs were the asparagus with mussel, ravioli and the dessert. Overall enjoyable but was waiting for a dish that would wow me and didn't get one. At $95pp it's a bit pricey for what you get imo. If you eat a lot you may leave still hungry.

Small servings for $95pp left a lot to be desired, especially considering the reviews and reputation. Gnocco fritto was delicious but the other entrees and mains unfortunately were not. Beef carpaccio, stracciatella and cucumbers were bland, Sacchetti filling required more salt and the pasta where it was folded on itself was undercooked. The king morwong was overcooked and therefore tough. Luckily the dessert was good and gives it the extra star. Overall, can get better food for cheaper elsewhere.

A definite must visit if you’re in Hobart. The venue is very small, only fitting 25 covers, but for the two chefs it’s probably great.Cozy, warm atmosphere with attentive and fun staff.Definitely a focus on more natural wines but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

We found the courses quite small and weren’t all that full afterwards. The food was okay, anticipated a lot more and creative dishes based on price (none of the dishes were wow). Front of house staff were friendly though.

Amazing food and lovely staff. This was the best food we had in Hobart. Their oysters where amazing. Had a good selection of wine as well. Go here and you won’t get disappointed.

Templo was smaller than I expected, but it gives you a cozy vibe. We were a group of 4 and sat at the bar.Food was delicious. I loved all the combinations. The orange wine was amazing. Staff was welcoming at first but throughout the night was just a bit flat. That makes a difference at the end. Funny they just bring the bill after dessert without notice. I guess it’s because it was close to 8pm already, which is the second seating.

A cute and intimate dining experience … and that is about the only thing that makes it special. At first, the $95pp price point for a 6 course meal (3 starters, 2 mains, and a dessert) seems worth it. However, the quality of the dishes were mediocre at best. They lacked depth of flavour and presentation was average - I would say it was on par with your typical weekend brunch joint. While the service was a somewhat redeeming factor given that it was quick and water top-ups were attentive, they did not clear any plates for the first three dishes. The dishes were designed to be shared, and as the plates were not cleared, this meant that the flavours of each dish began to mix together. Sorry-not-sorry but Hobart needs to rethink how they rate their top restaurants, as this does not deserve to be in the list.
