Sakana is one of the best restaurants in the city centre. The food is super yummy and flavoursome. The sashimi is great.Staff were friendly and service was fast.Downside is that’s it’s a small location so it’s a bit cramped and noisy.Can’t wait to come back though.

Excellent night out.The service was professional and the staff were friendly, happy, and knowledgeable.The food was served promptly and visually well presented.We tried multiple dishes of the menu and couldn't fault any of them.Absolutely delicious. Our favourite was the tofu dish, amazing.Thank you to the whole team for making our night a wonderful experience. ❤️

Recently had dinner here two nights ago, as well as lunch today, with both times being very good! Last time I was here was 2018 so wanted to try again with family!There was a bit of a wait for the food for the dinner meal however the staff were very apologetic and explained that it was their first time opening post-Chirstmas and New Years break, hence the busy schedule and re-adjustment of the menu options (I believe their menu rotates seasonally). The service for lunch today was much faster! Slightly disappointed however as I am unsure if it was because of junior staff or because of the rush but we requested for soy sauce, but were not provided a dipping sauce dish/tray.The Agedashi Tofu was my go-to years ago, and it still fails to disappoint today! Would highly recommend as it's light and refreshing!Their sets were very good (had the Sakana and Medium Sets), with it being much more value for money compared to the individual prices of choosing individual menu items. I highly recommend their sashimis as they are very good, but I would probably avert from the rolls as they were good but not particularly noteworthy. The Nigiris were quite good, especially the Unagi Nigiri (albeit on the more expensive side)All-in-all a good competitor and alternative in Townsville to GYO down the road, and leaps and bounds better than what you get from Wara or other sushi places in Townsville.

Amazing place. The decoration is well done and brings a lovely atmosphere, but the best is definitely the food which was just amazing. Every single dish was delicious.

This restaurant is such a hidden gem in Townsville. It's smaller and cosier than most restaurants and the noise level is appropriate. Best Japanese restaurant in Townsville and best sushi I have ever eaten as well! The servings are generous and the food is so flavourful and made with high quality and fresh ingredients. We look forward to dining here more often and highly recommend this place to others too!

We were nearby and desperate for dinner and very happy to find this Japanese restaurant. The menu is varied with a mix of traditional Japanese dishes and many with a Westernised slant. Very good range of sake, even a few high quality ones.

Where to even start? 5/5.Keywords:Flavour, freshness, professional staff, value.The restaurant has us blown away. Travelling from Melbourne, we have a host of options when it comes to Japanese food. This is the best Japanese restaurant we have eaten at. The food was outstanding. The textures, flavour and freshness were all fantastic.Furthermore, the staff were all professional, friendly, and made the experience very warm and welcoming.The atmosphere of the restaurant was attractive without being obnoxious.The service is great, food got to us very quickly.The prices are very reasonable. We ate very well including dessert for $60 per head.We look forward to coming again when we return to Townsville.Thanks Sakana!

2wine, entree, main dish.It was a pretty good dinner but the bar next to this shop was too noisy. We could not enjoy the day.
