Fantastic history about the Gold Rush at Charters Towers. This is an excellent way to understand how gold was extracted and separated from the rock it was trapped in. Definitely worth a visit, even the kids enjoyed it!

Charters Towers Venus Gold Battery
Such an informative and insightful tour to see behind the scenes of the hard work behind discovery of gold and trying to make a living. John our guide was a wealth of knowledge and answered our many questions. During the 75 minute tour there was an interactive informative story display, so you could understand the history of its prosperous hey day. Make sure to book through the information centre or online, so as to attend the tour to avoid disappointment of missing a tour. Its a must do for anyone with interst in gold, history and of the local area.

The Battery Venue has a lot of very interesting history. Unfortunately it is quite expensive($30 for seniors).The presenter gave a verbal explanation, tour of the area and two computer generated shows with the faces of the founders of the Battery operation. I'm sure more tourists would go if the price was more reasonable.
