An unique experience for the kids and families to see and explore the ancient gold mining village in 1800’s. You can engage in activities such as fossicking for gold and have a ride in a horse carriage. There’re some great demonstrations of gold mining, blacksmithing, gold purifying, candy making and much more. There you can buy souvenirs or gold jewelries as well. This place become so magical in the evening with Winter wonder-lights and the snowing experience.

Ballarat is a beautiful city! Very accessible via V Line from Melbourne. Sovereign Hill was an interesting place to explore. Experienced Victoria in the 1800s, saw horses and donkeys, and went on a mine tour. Beautiful and picturesque place to visit!

Sovereign Hill has been on my trip list for a very long time and only have managed to fulfill it with my daughter this time round. Its a huge place with plenty of tours, activities and stories to listen. You will definitely need to be there when it opens and leave just before it closes in order to conplete all the activities available. We definitely enjoyed our trip there today!

Good to visit specially for tourists. I just find it too pricey for the experience. Some staff are really nice but most were really awkward. Only in my opinion though. However, we really enjoyed the street show. We’re not lucky enough to find gold nuggets but still okay. I believe one visit should be enough.

Bought tickets online and it was very quick to enter, just had to show my ticket barcode. It’s an amazing place, one of a kind step back into the past. All of the buildings are looked after well and are genuine replicas. There is so much to do at soverign hill, candle making, watching blacksmiths and bakers, old fashioned crafts, horse carriages, wood workers, bowling and so much more. I love how all the old shops are actually functioning and you can buy things from them. The restaurant has really good food and drinks, a bit of a wait to get in usually. It really transports you back in time and is a great place to spend time in for all ages.

The mining tours are great, great to experience working life in a mine and what those brutal conditions were like. Also fun to pan for gold. Good shooting demonstration. Well worth it, though it is expensive and there's extra costs inside

Beautiful drive up from Melbourne with places to stop along the way for little kids. Sovereign Hill really takes you back in time to the gold rush era. So many things to see for every age group. Make sure you purchase your tickets online before hand so you don't have to wait in a line and can have a quick entry. There is plenty of parking and lots of food options. You won't regret the visit as memories will be built.

There was plenty to see and do to keep the whole family busy all day. The actors/guides were great and made it feel really authentic. A family pass cost us $129, but with extras for tours, photo and souvenirs took us over $300. We could have spent way more if we ate there, did all the activities, and purchased from the various stores.Queue early for photos and the carriage ride - we missed out on the horses and had two upset girls. The food was pricey but you can bring your own. A yearly pass is available for $261, so it's only a good deal if you're likely to go 3+ times.Overall, it was a great experience, but I was disappointed with the cost of the 'extras'.
