Hindmarsh Island Lookout

Nice spot to look over the river towards Goolwa

My family and I recently visited Hindmarsh Island during our Easter vacation and we were blown away by this hidden gem. It's a beautiful location that's well-connected to Goolwa, making it an excellent spot to stay while exploring the area.One of the highlights of our visit was exploring Goolwa Wharf and Murray Mouth, both of which are easily accessible from Hindmarsh Island. We loved taking in the beautiful scenery and soaking up the local culture. The area is also great for wildlife spotting, and we were lucky enough to see some unique bird species during our stay.One of the things we appreciated most about Hindmarsh Island was the peacefulness of the area. It's a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just relax in nature. We enjoyed taking walks along the beach and exploring the local flora and fauna.Overall, we would highly recommend Hindmarsh Island to anyone looking for a peaceful and beautiful location to stay while exploring the Goolwa area. It's a true hidden gem that we were lucky enough to discover during our vacation. We can't wait to come back and explore more of the area!

Wendy from Hindmarsh Is Landcare group dedicated her morning to digging up pest bulbs which had invaded this lovely revegetated area. A gentle walking track allows visitors to enjoy the area.

This spot is beautiful, be nice if there was a water fountain but beautiful view!

Good sized carpark with a minute walk to the lookout.Great view of the bridge and a view up to the BarrageThere is a shelter and chairs.Lots of birdlife when you walk around the tracks.

Spotted the lookout from the top of the bridge.Parking just off Randell Road, the lookout is 5 minutes walk. We could see the barrages.The reserve around has interesting plants preserved or planted.

Beautiful lookout, in a convenient location. Great to have a few snacks, enjoy some drinks whilst enjoying the beautiful views!

Wonderful walking tracks through bushland with a formed track to the Lookout. Fantastic view of Goolwa, Murray River and the barrage plus the southern ocean past the dunes. Covered shelter with picnic table at the lookout- wonderful place for a picnic. Great place to watch sunset sailing races on Fridays.

Beautiful spot to overlook Goolwa and Hindmatsh Island Bridge. The walk/ hike can be done easily, kid friendly.Needs more shelter and access to drinking water if you’ve forgotten your drink bottle.No public toilets here.
