Always something to see, local stingrays, pelicans, swans or just the seagulls. Beautiful views.

Stony Point Boat Ramp
Such a beautiful atmosphere around the boat ramp, the water around here are teaming with fish and if your lucky you might get to meet the huge stingrays that come in when the tide starts to rise cleaning the sandy bottom like vacuum cleaners. The ferry travels every two hours from Stony Point pier out to French island and Cowes, the ports Authority are here with a couple of dedicated tug boats to guide in the large ships.Bordering the Ramp carpark is the cutest small caravan park but that's for another post. The sunrises have different colours each day that will mesmerise your senses and if your lucky and catch the blood moon popping up from the east early evening it will fill the sky with its girth and if the night is still you will see the stairs travel to heaven.Don't tell to many people about this place!

Stony Point Boat Ramp
While I am not a motorboat owner - I was engrossed by the smooth way the boats were launched & hoisted out of the water. See clips below.Ramp is right opposite the Stony Point train station & the caravan park. Parking area for vehicle + boat looks adequate with public toilets. The other spectacle to view from ramp area is the antics of Pelicans & sea gulls when the cleaning tables are used for the catch of the day. There's 2 next to the ramp with taps but no cover. Late afternoon, one lone pelican on the seagrass shore along the ramp - suddenly multipled when catch was brought in to be cleaned! The Pelicans sidle up, inching closer & closer until they totally surround the table - absolutely entertaining to watch. Why bother with paying to see them in action in captivity! I got lucky at past noon to see them in action - as usually the show" would be in the morning or evening when the boats come in & the cleaning tables are used.I can only imagine the scene at sunset with the backdrop of the Pier

Good parking, good public toilets, a nice spot to park up and rest and look at the views. It does state no overnight parking.

Great place to see the Pelicans being fed when local fisherman are in the area!Boat ramp looks very suitable for a range of boats and vehicles, with a reasonable amount of parking.Facilities are located near the train station, and there is parking available (free) for the Ferry terminal if you get there early enough.
