Encounter Freediving

Great instructors. My wife got seasick on the way to the ocean session. The instructor, Michael, handled everything in his stride. We couldn't have asked for someone more helpful and encouraging. He balanced our needs with the other students, customising guidance to each person's needs. He was amazing.

I purchased a pair of najade fins from Encounter Free diving to use for underwater hockey and would highly recommend them to anyone. At first I was a bit apprehensive because they are a relatively small fin but after persevering for a few weeks i am pleased to report that they a starting to feel really natural.Not only are they much more cost effective than the other options but because they are so compact I managed to sneak them into my rucksack on a recent trip and managed to sneak in a bit of bodysurfing

Awesome day freediving with Encounter Freediving. We started with a great depth session at North Stradbroke Island. The conditions were perfect, great visibility and calm underwater. This was followed up with snacks and then a fun dive checking out sharks, turtles, and rays.From the first email there was excellent communication from Michael about transport, timings, and the dive plan. Michael gave a very professional dive and safety brief whilst on the ferry and then later again at the dive site. Overall Encounter Diving is a super professional operation to dive with!100% will be booking more dives with Encounter. The price is well worth it when you consider all that it entails, e.g. Manta Dive Boat, 2x dive sessions, great local knowledge, and access to great people and location.

Great trainers, communication & ocean day was well run too! Awesome experience, it's given me the taste for freediving. Highly recommended.

Great course, really enjoyed the instructors and glad they could get the most important safety aspects across clearly while allowing more time for the fun stuff when it allowed :) looking forward to going out again.

If you like ocean depth training along a line or fun dives around coral reefs, but don't have a boat then Encounter Freediving can help you do these activities in safe conditions. Encounter Freediving is run by Emily and Michael, a couple of freediving enthusiasts with long experience as freediving instructors. I have been on boat trips with them many times. I like their professionalism, their knowledge of the sea and their friendliness. During the fun dives, I have seen whales, manta rays, nurse sharks and the permanent residents of the reef. I have also bought freediving equipment through them (monofin, dive suits and nose clips). I appreciate their advice and excellent customer service!

Genial, experienced crew, great dive.Instructor Michael remained calm, collected, friendly, and professional despite unexpected setbacks. Would go again for sure!
