Great place to rest up for a few nights or just overnight. It's best to get in before midday as most sites by the water are taken by then. No amenities. Must be fully self-contained.Water is available.

Lovely free camp at Julia creek, for self contained vans etc. Can stay 4 days, wide open spaces and plenty of room for big rigs. Firepit allowed if up off the ground.

This is a lovely free camp that is well maintained by the local council. I spoke to the person responsible for the care and upkeep of the area and it was obvious by the way he was talking that he was proud of what he and his community of Julia Creek had achieved. Whilst there is a requirement that you must be fully self sufficient there are still taps provided so that you can top up your van. The town of Julia Creek is very welcoming of grey nomads and the people there are only too pleased to offer assistance if requested. A short walk from the camp and you are in town where the pub and cafes provide great meals.

Really nice free camp along the water side, they have rubbish bins & drinking water taps all around the camp grounds, free bike hire to ride into town if you don't feel like walking, you do have to register at the campsite host to camp here and it is a 4 night maximum. Julia Creek is a very RV friendly and welcoming community.
