Port Melbourne Grocer

Recently moved to Port Melbourne 2 months ago and been to port melb grocer couple of times and its been alright, my partner and I liked trying new things and some of the veggies were nice however yesterday we had an awful experience we dont think we will come back again and dont think anyone should until this has been taken seriously.We purchased chicken that was reduced, got home started cooking, chicken smelt horrible my partner nearly puked so i went back to return it told them its off the older lady at the checkout said it smells fine and was judging me like I was being rediculous or reasonable... im said you can have it then... I explained to her I dont want to have to come back to the store especially after starting to cook at home its inconvinient then now being judged by you and shes like im not judging, didnt even apologise once or was slightest bit polite 0 customer service at all.Then she was like oh its used by today and I said yeah we bought it 30 minutes ago and she was like wheres the receipt and i explained ask the other girl gave us a different receipt back because we got overcharged for the tin tomatoes earlier that we already had to chase up a refund for.. Got money back but it was so inconvinent to return 2 times already and concerning they didnt take it seriously with 0 empathy, somebody could of ate this chicken and fell ill...

Great local grocery and produce store with everything excellent quality. Peter Bouchier meat, Noisette and Illawarra bread and lots of free range/organic options. Quality of fruit and vegetables is first class - much better than the big chain" supermarkets. A great place to shop."

Used to deliver here when it was Thomas Dux and later About Life when Thomas Dux closed. About Life have since gone bust and sold up to these guys, I also deliver to their other store Prahran Grocer. Extremely good operators who I'm sure will put this purpose made store to better use than About Life did, which really became a waste of space in the end. Was sad to watch.

This rude receptionist on Friday evening of 17 March 2023 , literally penalised me for bringing my own bags for shopping and refused to pack for me,she laid everything on table and as I reached out to pay, I asked if she will finish packing ….half of it I had already done and she rudely replied “ you pack it”!!!! While other people were waiting…and watchingI went back she was rude and i could not talk so I leftI immediately called the shop to complain, but she was the one who answered the phone and slammed the phone on me ….After 14 years of predominantly shopping there I dont want to ever go there ever again!!!!

Fantastic local grocer, produce is great quality and Lily on checkout is a breath of fresh air.

I love it here. it's kind of a ritzy supermarket for your daily shop, but they have a lot of niche organic or raw food items which makes it worth visiting every couple of weeks for a treat. importantly, you can count on them for having whatever spice or niche ingredient Ottolenghi is flogging these days. they also roast their own coffee which makes the whole place smell fantastic

The quality of fruit and vegetables used to be much better recently it's just been very overpriced and not that fresh. The attitude of the staff is just horrible. On three occasions within one month I was charged extra at the cashier. It can't be accidental or by mistake if it's always more than the price on the shelves so make sure you always get a receipt.

I live locally and want to shop and support this awesome local business, but for the third time the price at the checkout does not match the price on the shelf this time it was only a small amount, but it has been substantial on another occasion.

Great little supermarket right on Bay St in Port Melbourne. All the staples you will need, and quite a few extras. Cafe to spoil yourself. Some special lines as well. Underground carpark as well.

Great place to shop vegetables and other kitchen stuff. Staff is very chearfull and helpful.
