Good museum to visit with the family/Kids. Entry is free except for the exhibitions. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was a little smaller than expected but had a good area for kids to experiment.

By far pne of the best museums i have been to.. good story pf coalMining… good science activity for kids… the history steel… so happy we stopped by before heading to sydney..

The museum showcases many science exhibits , giant globe , relevance of tattoos in the pre modern era.Visitors can perform practical demo of the science exhibits and learn more about various science cocepts.The museum also demonstrates Newcastle's historic dates, sports artefacts.Museum entry is free, pram friendly.Excellent for children.

Great way to kill some time productively... The dinosaur section was ticketed but was worth it.. Everything about the history of the city and its backbone industries.. Really helpful museum staff...

Very helpful reception desk, free entry. The Hands-on section is interesting and fun. Pay for parking is nextdoor. Worth the visit. Picture is map of the museum which is open Tuesday to Sunday 10am-5pm (sorry for poor quality, phone camera not the best).

I had such a great day exploring this museum with my little one. Great exhibits for young and old, slightly reminiscent of questacon in Canberra where there were heaps of practical science exhibits for my son to enjoy. We also stayed for the talks, and the presenter of the children's science talk was truly amazing!
