Great place to camp, but don't follow google directions, turn right towards town centre to camp. Plenty of space & flat area. Great info about the town & mine.

An absolutely awesome place to stay. So much space to spread out without being too close to each other. Not too perturbed about no toilets as we are self sufficient, but I think that it would be a great idea to put in at least one dump point. The drive up to the mine is well worth the effort

Read some reviews suggesting bad & long tracks in. Not the case! After fountain springs was full we went here. Amazing! If you don't want the long drive to try and find a concrete slab head right after entering and then follow road left and you'll see a big central section with a heap of flat area to park up at. Very bad phone reception but gentle visitors being the cattle. A ton of campers here but plenty of room between you. Night was pretty quiet, heard one generator off in the distance and pretty low road noise. No firewood so bring your own. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Follow us on insta @barretts4explore

Great for an overnight free camp.Probably the only free camp in Oz that has concrete slabs for every site (old town site).About 7 km to the open cut mine, head up the escarpment following the dirt road, turn right. High clearance 4WD recommend or dirt bike.

This place is amazing. We spent hours wandering the town" working out what was what. And don't miss the mine itself. Ma'am made beauty at its best. It is a 4WD track out there but well worth the bumps. And to top it off we stayed the night with lots of other people. Plenty of room with no-one on top of each other"

What an amazing location, free camping in the old ghost town of Mary Kathleen. The uranium mine exploration was 10/10.A must for travellers transitioning through Mt isa area.

Highly recommend 4wd only. They were many track you can choice to get in anyway at the end of T intersection turn right. Then you will be there.

What a great camp . Interesting history, view of mine and blue lake is amazing. Plenty of space to camp away from others . Cows wander through .
