The Birdhouse Apollo Bay
Had the fettuccine carbonara and beef ragu, carbonara was not too saucy and the egg seemed a bit scrambled but still tasted delicious. The beef in the ragu is very tender and the sauce is well seasoned. Food arrived hot and decently fast.

The Birdhouse Apollo Bay
Had to make a reservation to dine here. Ordered a total of 1 appetizer and 2 main dishes. The first complementary appetizer was the homemade bread with butter. Bread was warm and went extremely well with the butter, warms your stomach up for the next dish. Second appetizer was bread with salami, pickled olives and anchovies. It was great too. Seafood paella and sirloin steak up next. Steak wasn’t cooked well, asked for a medium rare cook but got a medium well steak. Taste was on the salty end. Seafood paella on the other end was perfect. Seafood was fresh and every bits of seafood umami juice was infused into the paella. Will come back again for the paella

Had a corner table by the window so had excellent views from the upstairs restaurant. I enjoyed my rib eye on the bone and the complimentary bread was a nice touch. Wife had the marinated lamb rump. Although vegetables were ordered as a side dish, I always feel that mains should have at least some token vegetables to go with it. We shared the chocolate fondant with ice cream for dessert. Just a few tweaks required to bring it up to a 5 star rating.

Great location, view and interior! The food is amazing, coffee was good too! They can be a bit busy and the seating arrangement can be a bit tight at times.

Absolutely delicious. We ordered the squid entree (which was real) and the seafood Paella; authentic crust formed on the bottom, sticky rice and well cooked seafood. We were umming and arring the entire meal.Lovely decor and ambience.Perfect service.

Cute little place in Apollo Bay for food with views of the bay. We stopped here for breakfast. Had the scrambled eggs with avocado and granola bowl. Great food with fresh ingredients and really nice coffee too. Only complaint would be the add on for the avocado is quite pricey - 5 bucks - for a few thin slices. Would have expected to give a full avocado for that price. Otherwise a very good experience.

I bring a group down the Great Ocean Road weekly, and we always have lunch at The Birdhouse. Stunning views, magnificent menu, sumptuous and delicious food, all with wonderful warm service.I highly recommend The Birdhouse for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

got the calamari entree, seafood paella, pork belly and ribeye steak. ambience was nice and the place was pretty packed. it was cozy and nice especially on a cold night.calamari entree was slightly underwhelming, nothing special to it - reckon we should’ve went with another option instead :/pork belly was nicely cooked but if you’re getting a couple sharing plates this isn’t the one for you. it’s rather small and difficult to portion.winner of the night had to be ribeye. cooked to perfection and served with delicious sauce, we all loved the cut and appreciate that it was cooked medium rare - as ordered!seafood paella was decent! they were very generous with the seafood but the rice was over-salted.would come back again but i reckon we would try different dishes and perhaps their specials!
