Quaalup Homestead Wilderness Retreat
Stayed in the self contained chalet 3 nights, had dinner organised for 2. Delicious meals, serene environment, beautiful Bush walks, and incredibly friendly hosts. The bedding was warm and comfortable, the cutlery and crockery all that you wrote need for a regular trip. Showing water was slightly salty, but the drinking water was delicious. We'll sign posted plants on the nature walk path. No Internet and no noise/light pollution.

Wonderfull stay in the self contained chalet for 3 nights (only booked 2 nights, we were lucky and could extend for another night). We had dinner organised, the small kitchen got everything you need for a easy dish. (Nothing around here so better bring your food/ Drinks). Bush walks, friendly and helpful host, no internet and no noise/ light in the night. Wild Life everywhere around you.

Quaalup Homestead Wilderness Retreat
We stayed a few days at Quaalup Homestead in April 2015. This was the first time we experienced living in a wilderness area and for some this would be wonderful… but for others, not a pleasant experience at all. The place has a stark beauty with endless sand plains, rocky hills (watch out for sand flies on West Mount Barren), boggy beaches and long corrugated roads that will rattle your fillings loose! We were unlucky while at Quaalup because the river was pretty dry and the inlet was reduced to a boggy mud flat. We caught a few herring off the rocks near Triglow beach but had to travel 40km over corrugated gravel tracks for this. The homestead has only solar power and anything over 400W will trip the fuse. Take a filter for your drinking water to strain any loose dirt that may find its way into the overhead rainwater tanks. There are nice nature walks and many 4WD tracks around. We saw a large tiger snake wandering along a bush track and there are lots of rats about to keep them fat! In short, if you enjoy adventure and camping you will have a fantastic experience but if you are after a Margaret river type experience, this may not be for you!

Quaalup Homestead Wilderness Retreat
A rare opportunity to stay in a National Park surrounded by amazing wildflowers and native plants, birds and wild kangaroos, no urban noise, no diesel only solar, clean air and in a site that has over 150 years history. The hosts Karin and Carsten are an amazing couple who have lovingly and painstakingly developed the Homestead into a clean, comfortable, cosy and environmentally responsible and friendly place to stay and visit. We stayed 3 nights in the 2 bedroom Chalet (this term is used extensively in the region and can confuse some people on the luxury level of accommodation), which was perfect for the location and in keeping with the theme of Quaalup. We did not miss having TV, Wifi, Mobile phones and even music, it was so relaxing and peaceful. The hosts provide a continental cold breakfast and 3 course dinner on request. We thoroughly enjoyed the daily fresh home cooked bread and variety of Tea's. The evening meals served in the Homestead with candle lights and a roaring fire were delicious and plentiful. The beaches around Point Ann are simply outstanding and the Parks people have upgraded all the facilities making it a great place to spend a whole day and have a picnic lunch. The native trail in Quaalup is very special as a variety of native wildflowers have been planted and labeled to create a special walk which we did twice and would never tire off.Highly recommend a stay at the Quaalup Homestead.

After discovering Quaalup by accident in 2015, we returned with extended family for a magical 3 days over new year, staying in the cabin. For nature lovers who want to experience peace, tranquility and natural beauty in the Fitzgerald River national park, this is paradise. The cabin was spotlessly clean and well-equipped, and a nice break from camping. The heritage-listed Homestead Building has a perfect lounge / reading room for residents, which becomes a beautiful candle lit private dining room should you book a three-course meal. Karin and Carsten are also wonderful hosts.

We stayed for 4 nights in the 2 bedroom self contained chalet with en-suite.Karin and Carsten were very friendly and welcoming. Their local knowledge was invaluable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The chalet itselfwas lovely, homely, clean and very comfortable after full days of whale watching. We will certainly visit again.

I’ve never enjoyed a more peaceful and beautiful place to stay. Be aware it is totally environmentally friendly. You won’t get the 5star comfort. But you will not find a more beautiful place. You’re hosts are so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend you take advantage of paying extra for a meal in the homestead. The atmosphere is incredible.
