Krondorf Cellar Door & Wine Bar

Was very keen to visit this wine cellar/wine bar whilst in Tanunda, the Barossa recently. And then, there it was. Right on the Main Street, near the the old flour mill cafe (nosh cafe) we’d just visited. Very plush interior as we entered, however, our entry was quite confusing as we requested just the wine tasting when queried by a staff member, who was going out the front door as we arrived. We sat at the bar, not knowing exactly what else to do as we had already eaten so didn’t take a booth, and then we were completely left to our own devices - wondering why staff behind the bar were completely ignoring us. The staff member who’d left as we came, returned and clarified that we just wanted the wine tasting and we were still left sitting there, wondering if a magic gong would announce the beginning of our wine tasting ‘experience’? Other customers at booths seemed to enjoy their food and it looks like they have a pizza oven, but we were there only to taste the Krondorf wine, as I’d remembered having a good one at some stage elsewhere. Finally staff deigned to recognise that we were in fact sitting there for a wine tasting (although I’d been planning to leave). The magic gong must’ve announced our intentions and we were led through some Krondorf reds with no alacrity by a very knowledgeable server. Staff member who’d ushered us in, had disappeared! The wines were good but I felt that it had been a white I remembered well, and I don’t believe the one I remembered was served. The wine tasting here costs $10 if you don’t purchase any there at the time. It’s indeed a very elegant experience completely devoid of either any emotion or personality. Leaving one feeling that it was quite unremarkable eventually. A different experience was had later at another wine tasting in Tanunda.

What an amazing day spent here! Such an intimate cellar door complimented by some amazing wines and very knowledgeable team. Well worth the visit.

Very lovely experience, we went there with our 16 month old and our 10 year old (as we don’t really have sitters) and were unsure how it was going to go because it didn’t appear to be the kind of place to bring children however, Phil was a super star! He made us all feel so welcome. It felt like the staff enjoyed having us and our children there. Phil was also very knowledgeable about the wines and friendly throughout the whole experience.The wine is a 10/10 too I liked nearly all reds that I tried (which never happens with a tasting) And the GSM is a favourite of mine now.10/10 all round guys. The wine tasting was a treat. The gentleman was very knowledgeable with the selection of wines and the history of each bottle.The general vibe and atmosphere is excellent.

Ten out of ten for customer experience, great valued wines and delicious crispy pizzas. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about their products.The tasting servings were generous and you must try the 2019 Old Salem Shiraz which was our favourite.Thank you Briony and staff for making our visit very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable.We will definitely be back to share this amazing cellar door with our friends.

Just had a tasting here and it was by far the best winery experience I have ever had. I forgot to get his name but the older gentleman with glasses today took the utmost care in explaining the history and stories behind the wines. His passion and enthusiasm for the wines and the brand overall was incredible. We arrived at 415 and felt bad about the lateness and would have been okay with a rushed tasting but we were given the opposite. The wines were delicious and some of the best we had in the Barossa but without a doubt, the experience would be nothing without our server. If this man is not on a wage commensurate with his investment in the business then I will offer him a job myself. A brand is nothing if not their people. 10 out of 5 stars for his service.
