Very welcoming and informative tour. I learnt a lot of important cultural, historical and political details about this place. The information about the eels was fascinating. Beautiful setting for lunch. Excellent food and service. Tasty food! Loved the eel pâté. And the chocolate cake!! Zero alcohol beer (Sobah) was very good too.

I think it’s highly recommended that folks should swing by and do the tour if they are able to. We signed up for the two hour tour with Reuben as the guide. He was thoroughly engaging. We learned so much about the Gunditjmara people, Tae Rak, kooyongs. Time well spent.

We weren’t organised enough to book in a guided tour in advance so we did a bit of exploring on our own and had an absolute feast at the café, including the delicious eel tasting plate. An incredibly beautiful place with rich history. It was a privilege to be there.

Enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide, excellent and unique eel dishes that is distinct and memorable. Highly recommend the platterThis was just after new year, so attendance was packed and has to wait for a table to be cleared. Would pre-book a table and platter next time. Definitely at least a once in a lifetime visit.

Absolutely brilliant day, taking a tour and eating at the cafe. The tour was amazing, so informative, from the life cycle of the eels, the stories and creation of the eel farms,.. it is one of the best tours I have been on. The food was amazing - fine dining on eel - who would have thought it could taste that good!

My friend and I went on the 2 hour guided tour and then tasting platter lunch. Our guide Braydon was an engaging and very knowledgable guide and storyteller. We were amazed about the story of the eel’s life cycle and how for so many thousands of years the local indigenous peoples have farmed these animals sustainably. The tour was outstanding and I would highly recommend. And definitely add on the tasting platter - excellent value higher quality food. We also had a few other things off the menu - I would also highly recommend the lemon myrtle scones . The scones were as soft as a pillow and tasty. An outstanding world heritage site. Well worth the visit.

So good to immerse oneself in the landscape where our first nations people lived in harmony with their lands, learn about the lifecycle of eel & its importance to culture, appreciate housing & social structure, unlearn much of the untruths we were taught at school, not to mention a delicious lunch afterwards in the cafe. A delightful day out. The guides here are very good.
