Had a great birthday dinner here. Waiting staff are knowledgeable, welcoming and attentive to your needs. The food was very tasty, good quality and in great quantity. While we were tucked away near the kitchen, it suited us fine with our little one.The window or central tables are great for a romantic, private dinner .Thank you for a lovely evening:)Charlotte, Xavier and Jeanne

This place is Amazing! It's a great and simple concept, although I can see some have struggled with it, so I will try and break it down. What I love is that you know what you are going to be paying for your food before you walk in the door (unless you want extras). There are 2 options; $80 or $95$80 - gets you two of the amazing dishes on the menu. You could have a starter and main, a main and dessert or a starter and dessert.$95 - gets you three of the amazing dishes, again mix these up as you wish. Each section on of the menu has 4-5 options to chose from.Starters = 5 optionsMains = 5 optionsDessert = 4 optionsThe menu is seasonal so this can change, I have attached the most recent one in the photos.Sides/extras are not included in the above pricing but there are 4 of them to chose from.Full disclosure, I did not have any of these, so can not make comment on them.I chose the 3 courses - Gruyere Soffle - Steak Frites - Creme Brulee (pictures attached of all these dishes)The food was AMAZING and I loved every bite. The staff were great and it was a lovely dining experience overall. I will most definitely be visiting again.

Bistro Terroir was a wonderful dining experience for us. From booking our same-day dinner reservation over the phone to having our host/waiter call a taxi for us and even walk us outside to open the taxi door. (No, we weren’t being politely asked to leave.. when asked at the start if we’d like to see the wine and beverage menu we asked the waiter what the taxi service was like around Daylesford as this was our first time visiting the town. Our waiter assured us it was reliable and offered to call a cab for us, just let him know whenever we were ready. And so we did as to avoid drinking and driving back to our hotel). The service was second to none despite having a few things missed. No one gave us a dinner menu to look into after we had ordered and received our beverages, it took quite some time before my husband politely asked the waiter for the menu. When asked if we’d like more sourdough bread ~ hubby said no and I said yes, but this was overlooked, but otherwise amazing and fabulous service. Each dish was well presented and very tasty, the Spyra wine (for me) was delightful. I chose the Escargot (snails) for entree which were battered and served with a delicious garlic and sage (I think) flavoured sauce, and for my main, the chicken done two-ways.. cooked to perfection and oh my that sauce/jus’ was so rich and flavoursome I could have licked the plate!. Lemon tarte’ for dessert was excellent however I couldn’t finish it because we devoured the crème brûlée first. We ordered the beetroot salad as a side which was lovely but really we didn’t need to as we were so full and struggled to finish it.If ever you are in Daylesford you must try Bistro Terroir. French food done right.

Overall everything was alright. Had high hopes due to the reviews but didn’t tick all the boxes hence the rating.I’d say the brussel sprouts and the steak were the best. The onion soup was a bit disappointing. The beef tartare was alright but the pickles and pieces of jalapenos were too salty and tangy. The lamb was tender and well cooked but lacked flavour. Dessert was alright.Service was alright but the waiter (French guy) serving us seemed very attentive and gave a very thorough explanation and recommendations to other tables but not to us not sure why.

From the moment you walk in you feel a sense that you have made the best decision to book a table here. The staff!! Amazing, friendly, personal and professional. Extensive wine and drink menus. The food is spot on and what one would expect from fine dining. We had an amazing time here. A nice gem in wonderful Daylesford. Enjoy xxxxx

Wonderful smiles greet you and the food was beyond amazing! Again, the staff were such a delight throughout the night. Escargot and beef tartare all the way, and one of you needs to order the steak frites, perfect!

Disappointing experience, both FOH & BOH. Visited the town by driving from Melbourne and picked this top rated place for dinner. When we firstly sat down and offered menu, my partner asked a senior waiter that if you’ve got an a la carte menu instead of 2 or 3 courses set menu? The waiter rudely and impatiently said this is a la carte menu and you’ve to pick 2 or 3 courses out of it. The lack of professionalism and proper training shocked us as it claims to be a French restaurant but the staff doesn’t hold essential knowledge. It’s just a start. A junior waiter later served all tables with warm breads and butter but only us didn’t get butter so we asked the senior waiter for it after 10 mins, and a solid frozen quenelle of butter was served when a fork couldn’t even cut in.I have tried a lot of ox tongue dishes processed by different cooking techniques in different levels of restaurants and this dish at Terroir is the worst as it just tastes like a few pieces of ham socked in warm consommé when it is too salty to taste anything else. Beef tartare is beautiful and flavoursome. Duck and Wagyu rumps were both over cooked - duck was so dry that every bite couldn’t be without the sauce. Wagyu has no big issues but a little overbooked but acceptable, the chips are a fiasco as one third of them had been deep fried a few times too hard and the oil has darkened them while all you can taste is oil in the deep fryer and unpleasant crispiness. The serving speed was ridiculously slow and all the tables around us expressed disappointment as it wasn’t busy at all when almost half of the room was empty by 8:30 pm on a Tue night. The portion size and the quality of the food is not what we expected for the price and I believe the head chef could do better as they’re all basic and non-complicated French dishes on the menu.

Booked a dinner here for my husband’s birthday last October. Service and food were both fantastic. The staff was warm and friendly. Definitely our favourite restaurant in Daylesford now. Loved it! Don’t bother getting steak elsewhere.

Absolutely Wow! We had such a beautiful dinner for our anniversary. We had the 3 course meal and it did not disappoint one bit! The steak tartare and chicken liver pate was incredible! The steak and frites was next level amazing I was so full but couldn’t stop. We had a side of the mushrooms which were outstanding! Beautiful wine - we had the whispering angel rose and some cocktails . Dessert was delicious! We both absolutely loved our meal and the staff were fabulous! Cannot wait to come back !
