It is set in incredible gardens and has lovely little touches like flowers in every room. Very country!

Whilst the place itself was really nice, we received an aggressive call from the lady owner shortly after asking if we had flooded the spa bath, and a negative one star review for our treatment of the property. This was despite my partner and I going to great lengths as always to leave the place in perfect condition. Knowing that we had made sure to wipe up any excess water that might have splashed from the bath or shower (the door of which does not close properly), I apologised nonetheless and asked if there was any damage or signs of mistreatment to the property, to which she replied the toilet roll (kept on the floor in the bathroom not far from the spa bath and shower) was wet, so we must have been careless.What a shame that the host of this beautiful property has no respect for her customers. Having looked through other reviews it seems we are not alone in enjoying the property but being shocked at the rudeness of the host. We went from recommending the place to friends, straight after visiting, to warning people away. I have never written a negative review on any form or review site, but felt compelled to on this one occasion given the complete lack of decency and politeness from the host. As another reviewer commented on TripAdvisor, the host quite simply takes a view of ‘we will take your money but that is all we care about’.Do not stay at the Devon Cottage, or any of the properties owned by Southdown Cottages. We had no interaction with the gentleman owner but the lady owner was the rudest owner we have encountered in over 100 stays.

Gorgeous little cottage. Fantastic ambience. Well maintained. Quaint and cozy. Lovely gardens to roam through. Loved it.
