Aubrey Rhodes

Aubrey is a very special artist who continually hones her craft. I am honoured to have had the opportunity to purchase one of her paintings from the RX series that proudly hangs in our home providing lots of conversational starters when guests come to visit. I have watched Aubrey work over the years and the heart and soul that she injects into each piece is nothing short of amazing. The world is a better place with her art shared and viewed all over the world.

I have purchased two of Aubrey’s paintings and commissioned one for commercial design use. What I love about Aubrey’s work is that it is technically original and multi-layered. What she portrays in her work is a powerful projection of the raw human condition alongside topical themes. Her paintings are both frightening and soothing all at once. Aubrey never ceases to amaze me with her vision and unbridled determination. I admire her work immensely and have enormous respect for her work and ability. Aubrey is an artist with her finger on the pulse.

Controversial, thought provoking, and even enigmatic, Aubrey has the ability to capture 'life' with all its complex (and often messy) layers on her unique and very beautiful canvasses. Like most artists Aubrey pours herself into her works, perhaps even more than others. I've seen first hand how she spends hours, week, days and even months tirelessly morphing her concepts and flat images into new dimensions until they're 'just right'. Each of her pieces is a labour of love and a testament to the amazing uncompromising artist she is. It's not only a privilege to own five of her pieces, but a sheer joy to be able to re explore and find new meaning in their subject matter every day.

Aubrey Rhodes is in very select company as an artist. She consistently creates stunning imagery that delivers in concept and execution--rewarding the viewer with lush paintings that are emotive and intellectually rewarding; meditative and moving; playful and philosophical.

I have been admirer of Aubrey's paintings for many years and have even bought some of her art. I am constantly amazed by her talent, dedication and patience in explaining it to others.

Many many years ago now she did a piece that was commissioned by a friend. It was huge, poignant, brimming with stark imagery - and beyond amazing. It led to a couple more in that series, and I was the lucky recipient of one of them. Her pieces continue to evolve with intent, commentary and dimension, and the beauty with which she crafts these messages are truly stunning. So much so that I find it hard to put words together to explain how very much I love my piece. Besides the scarf I have from late grandmother, it is my most beloved possession. Thanks Aubrey!

I have been to every one of Aubrey's shows and watched her paint over the years. Her artwork is fantastic and never stops evolving. She is great to follow and watch the process.

I am a big fan of Aubrey and of her art. “A picture is worth ten thousand words” - Fred Barnard. Aubrey’s art is exactly that. Each piece tells a few stories, weaved beautifully and expressively onto the canvas. If money was no object, I would have my own gallery of her original artwork. Since my pockets are not deep, I have to be satisfied with a small collection of her prints (which will grow). The prints are of very high quality, are light in weight, and come ready to hang.

I'm fortunate to own a piece of Aubrey's art from the sins series. It graces my wall above my desk and continues to inspire me to create my own works. She never stops evolving and is one of the most exciting contemporary artists in Melbourne. Worth hitting up for a commission for pieces big and small.When you walk into her studio space, you can't help but be inspired with the positive energy and her learned academic knowledge of art.
