Ashmar Farmstay

A GENUINE and classic farmstay. This is a small/medium operating farm (not just a tourist/hobby farm), with a great range of animals. All still hand-fed. There is one free-standing guest cottage near the farmers’ house (so only one group of guests at a time). You are free to either keep to yourself or join for the daily animal feeding or just explore the 500 acre property. Hosts, Ian and Gayle, are relaxed and accommodating and made us feel super welcome.While we were there, there were sheep, goats, 150 cattle, horses, ducks, rabbits, chickens, guinipigs and bunnies. And something always seems to be having babies.We were invited everyday to feed all animals, milk a cow by hand, bottle feed lambs and collect eggs. We also went on a hay run, learnt about the water, supplies and struggles with utilities on the land. And watched the dogs round up cattle and sheep.It was everything we were hoping for in a farm stay for our young family: the kind of experience you would have visiting your own family’s farm.

Hospitality at its best. Not only the stay was best, but also could come close to the nature. The kids had a blast with the farm animals. Loved it.

.. Just WOW!We just stayed at Ashmar and as soon as we checked out we rebooked.My three children (5,9,12 years old) all had an absolute ball. As did I. There was so much to do, see and pat. The animals were all so delightful and friendly. The cottage is so gorgeous, homely, clean and spacious. And the fire place was so cosy. We stayed two nights and wish we booked more. Its an easy 12 min drive to town. The bakery was delicious and the meat from the butcher was amazing.Ian & Gayle were both so lovely and we loved the damper loaf :) We cant wait to go back.Myself and my kids - HIGHLY RECOMMEND ASHMAR FARMSTAY.

Great place. Lovely rolling hills, lots of animals to interact with. So peaceful. Ian and Gayle do a great job. Just note.. there is very little mobile coverage if you're not w Telstra. Part of the charm?

This is definitely a kids paradise and we had an amazing family time. A great place for family get togethers. Ian and Gayle are great hosts and i would highly recommend this place.

Only wish we stayed longer...Gayle and Ian were the most welcoming hosts.Property was beautifully well kept.Plenty of things for the kids to do, plenty of places to relax.Will be returning soon, highly recommend.

Very scenic and serene place. Friendly hosts. Cottage is clean and well maintained. Kids enjoyed playing with rabbits, feeding alpacas, collecting eggs etc. We enjoyed break from the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Such a fantastic time away! Ian and Gayle are wonderful - everything about our time at the farm was fantastic - our little boy was so excited to help Ian feed the animals every day! The cottage is beautiful. Thank you so much for a lovely time! We will definitely be back!

What an amazing place for holiday . Absolutely beautiful. We loved it and kids enjoyed a lot. Wish we had more days but definitely going back again. Thank you Ian and Gayle for your hospitality. Highly recommended for everyone.
