Great place for a drink and awesome music

After completing first semester here I’ve become aware of 3 main features. Due to the smaller institution, there is a higher teacher to student ratio and I was able to access extra support I required to do well, the staff having always been super kind, helpful & patient. Secondly: They have some incredible teachers with years of teaching experience so they understand personality types and learning styles AND the diploma and bachelor courses are cleverly intertwined and organised so all the subjects feed and weave into one another which really bangs in the content with plenty of repetition to cater towards hardwiring. Lastly; the environment and culture JMI has cultivated is exceptionally welcoming, safe and supportive. Between the students and how they willingly give time to assist one another but also the staff and past students. The networking is excellent with plenty of jamming opportunities and paid performance work for those students working hard.

I completed a summer school workshop here and they were awesome! Dan Quigley sure knows his stuff, the whole week was fantastic, highly recommend!

Friendly staff. Exceptional jazz players (all instruments and all jazz genres). It is a smaller conservatory and therefore is more personal and community based learning environment. They actively support the community jazz scene throughout Brisbane. Great performance stage.
