Marion Chapman Artist - renowned Australian watercolour artist & teacher

Marion is a very talented, award winning artist. I was lucky enough to attend one of her open house exhibitions and purchased an amazing artwork of a butterfly that I have on display in my lounge room. Everyone that sees it admires it :)So lucky to have the original artwork as my own.

Marion creates collections of magnificent pieces of art that reflect not only her passion and talent as an artist but also her wonderful, colourful personality. I am sure anyone who views the collections could pick a piece of Marion's art that would transform their home and office.

Marion's art has always spoken to me! From her printmaking and photography to her most beautiful watercolours. Her passion and love of the natural world is evident in her art, as is her dedication and commitment to creative expression and processes. I love that I own some pieces and look forward to adding to my collection!

I have been following Marion's Artistic career for nearly a decade. She is extremely passionate and professional, creating amazing and unique artworks. My wife and I are fortunate enough to have a number of her original works throughout our home.

Marion has commenced live streaming art classes in response to the restrictions of Covid19. She chooses topics that utilizes multiple technique's, emparting her knowledge of watercolours in an easy to follow manner. You always come away learning something new, irrespective of what level of artist you are.

My wife Claire and I have appreciated Marion's work for quite some time now. The stand out for me has been the collection of butterflies.We also have a small Aussie farmhouse country scene that is so natural and relaxing.Well worth the look.

I am so impressed by how many awards Marion has won - her resume is packed full: she has won the John Upton Watercolour award a few times, and has a work hanging in the Irodori Watercolour Headquarters in Tokyo, and did one of her many artist residencies, followed by an exhibition, in Italy. I am very lucky to own some of her art!

I had the privilege to attend one of Marion's online watercolour classes which has a mix of newbies like me and other students who are very good at watercolour painting. She shared her techniques, comes across as patient, friendly/easy-going and most of all, made painting with watercolour seem so effortless.Whilst attending Marion's class, I came to realise I was truly relaxed and was absolutely enjoying every minute of it.Thank you Marion in providing the opportunity for online classes. It has definitely changed my perspective. Most importantly, I now like to paint.

Marion Chapman’s Watercolour ClassOf all the things I did last year Marion Chapman’s watercolour course was the best.Marion covered a great number of techniques and introduced me to a number of interesting artists works that I would never have found by myself. Two in particular are Stephen Quillar and his colour theory and Ann Brockley with her ‘thinking outside the box techniques’ using watercolour under cling film and baking paper.Marions watercolour course took us well away from the more prosaic ‘let's paint a tree’ or ‘this is how you paint a geranium’. Her lessons are based on big bold brush strokes wet on wet where beautiful washes can happen spontaneously.If you are a beginner this course will show you what watercolours can do. If you paint in other mediums and want to find out more about watercolour and how it differs from other water media I highly recommend Marion's class.Ian Coles

Our walls are adorned with a number of artwork by local artist, Marion Chapman. We own several water colours, a number of limited run prints and some striking photographs. Her sense of design and rendering of detail reflects her skill in a number of disciplines. The inspiration of her subject matter comes mostly from the Australian landscape which is rendered boldly and confidently.
