Mount York Lookout
Have come many times, since c. 1965. Hope to come again. The views always vary with the weather, are always interesting.Site is much better maintained than visits a few years ago. Good long-drop loos, informative signage, the old euro-landmarks in reasonble order. Parking and camping arrangements significantly clearer.Given the recent catastrophic bushfires, the area now makes an iconic display of the deadly force of a bushfire the long-term effects and the miraculous capacity of the bush to regenerate. It's all happening now after the 2021 spring rains!

Great hidden picnic area located on the western edge of the Blue Mountains. Great picnic facilities, local historical site information all around area. Lots of marked walks from short to long, easy to hardPopular with mountains climbers. Spectacular views. Non-powered camping sites available.

Stayed here a night and for free it's pretty great, gotta get in early as it is vanlife city though. The lookout itself isn't too bad but pales in comparison to other nearby lookouts. There's some good information boards around giving a good overview of history and ecology of the area

Well worth an explore with easy to hard walks. Can get busy on weekends with lots of climbers and abseilers. Dog friendly walking area - however this is NOT an offleash location despite many who allow their dogs off here.

Unfortunately can't say, the weather destroyed any chance of seeing anything!! Heavy rain and fog made the experience very dull.

For a full-on dose of Blue Mountains history from 1813 on, come here! Great views to the West and North and excellent signage, plus commerative memorials spanning 100 years or more. Make sure you walk the few hundred metres down the start of Cox's road to marvel that a wheeled vehicle could ever travel that route, and at the men who found it and developed it. I am chagrined that in all my years, I had never been here before.

Mount York Lookout
Place where Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth considered they had cross the Blue Mountains. A number of monument commemorate various human achievement. Great view of Hartley Valley from a number of lookout or look back in the mountains on the right. We didn’t make it back here for sunset but I’d imagine it would be special.

Amazing views, great camping site with amazing wilderness. Also a historical site with the first European settler explorers memorial there.
