Mount Arthur

Amazing hike, has some slightly challenging bouldering at the top. Stunning views. We did it on a sunny day in winter with lots of ice and frost which meant you had to really take your time climbing. Finished up and back in 4 hours. Poorly marked particularly going down so keep checking route as you go!

Nice walk through the forest from the end of Mountain Road, Lilydale. The track is quite steep in some places and requires some climbing over rocks toward the top. You will also need to keep an eye open for track markers and cairns in some areas to guide you. On top of the mountain there is a boardwalk leading to a lookout that has views over North East Tas through to Bass Strait. You can continue up the mountain to the cairn which marks the top of the mountain. If you climb the cairn, on the southern side is a box with a book which you can sign for your record of claiming the top. From the top, there are views of Mt Barrow, Ben Lomond, Tamar Valley and North East Tas. The walk is around 5 hours return.
