Gilly's Steel Supplies

I have been to Gilly's steel twice now and they are so much cheaper than Bunnings. My last project it was going to cost 450-500 from Bunnings. Gilly's steel was $170.

Great to deal with. Excellent price and was very easy to organise delivery with.

Good service, great new setup at queen st location. Large drive through yard or dive though shed to pickup orders. Stocking a huge range of steel as well as farm fencing, tree guards, mesh, gates, hinges, end caps etc. Can cut to size as required.

We recently purchased materials for a storage shed. We greatly appreciated that the staff suggested a few items that we had overlooked in the initial planning. Also loved that they cut material to size & had promptly delivered to site.It was a one-stop-shop for everything that we needed & were very competitive on pricing. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend.

Absolutely disappointed with this company after a recent delivery of steel edging. Delivered and was bent therefore was deemed unusable. Now have 1m of “patch work” in my neat steel edge. Asked for some compensation perhaps a refund of the exorbitant delivery fee when it was less than 2kms from my house. Spoke to the owner of Gilly’s and he was rude, condescending and not willing to help. Will NOT recommend this company again.

Gave these guys 'a go' so as to buy local, etc, but really poor experience. First, supplied me with the wrong parts to build my steel-framed shed, and when I telephoned for info or to resolve, promise by staff to 'call back' did not eventuate. Called back myself and volunteered what I thought the issue was (reasonably straightforward), same guy says (again) 'got customers here mate, I'll call you back', to which I said 'surely the answer will only take a moment' - but to no avail, he pretty much hung up - and then never got back to me!Worse is the general customer service attitude, which pretty much does not exist. I'm not a tradie, though have owner-built my own (timber-frame) house, so know a thing or two about DIY, but these guys talk to you as though if you don't know something about steel frame construction...well, let's just say it's as though they're talking to a tradie or an apprentice who should know. Even then, and in any case, would it kill them to just speak respectfully and explain something?It's just a question of basic social skills, really.Also, took about a month to get all the proper stuff supplied, which for a shed, is just too long. Thankfully, it was just a shed!If I build another house in the future and it's a steel frame, def not using this mob. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Great range and great service every time. Very knowledgeable with great advice for what steel we need for any particular project.
