Leven Canyon Picnic Area

A very good walk in the nature and the view is spectacular. If you do exercise on a regular basis the walk is considered easy.

Tracks may have short steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps.​Leven Canyon is a rarity: both stunningly wild and easily accessible. An undulating, mostly easy circuit track takes you to the rim of a stunning canyon. The powerful Leven River has cut through steep, forested country to form the canyon.Two lookouts, Cruickshanks and Edge, can be accessed on the 1.2km circuit track. Each lookout allows you to enjoy spectacular and expansive views. Between the lookouts there’s a steep set of stairs, which can be avoided if you return via the same track.Along the ferny track you can see some smaller highlights, including colourful fungi and furtive wildlife.The toilet facilities have wheelchair access, but the walk itself is not accessibile for visitors using wheelchairs.FacilitiesBbqs, parking, picnic facilities, toilets, short walks

I've lived in Tassie all my life and this was my first time to the canyon. I absolutely loved it. The walking track is awesome, and it's perfect for prams as well. (But not the 800 stairs). My thighs are still sore after two days.

Great place for a BBQ, picnic,or just a stroll on the easy walking tracks.

What an amazing spot. Short walks to lovely lookouts. Water and toilets. Only intermittent 1 bar Telstra signal.
