WFI

Absolutely dreadful. My mother and father have had their house policy with WFI and it's predecessor since 1954.Recently my mother had a water pipe burst in her ensuite. Water all over the carpet in the bedroom and hallway. A week of hot air blowers, 24 hours a day, to dry it all out and leaving stains on the white carpet in the bedroom and hallway. An assessor took photos and said she should replace all her carpet as you can't join new carpet to old and make it look ok.She eventually replaced all her carpet at a cost of $9000 or so. Finally she got a cheque from WFI for $1200, less than one years premiums, after some 63 years of insuring with them. It stated that it was for the bedroom only, so presumably they expected that there would be a join between different types of carpet and that the stains in the hallway would remain.Nothing for the cost of the electricity of a week of full time blowers.Massively disappointed and it will probably end up with the ombudsman now. By the time you take out the cost of the electricity there is little left to cover the $9000 odd for replacing the carpet.
