High tea today, food was nice however wouldn't pay that much for that again as it was just basic sandwiches and deserts. Got just the tea and coffee option or $70 pp (and was then informed you are limited to 2 drinks only). Food arrived before tea and coffee. Waiters instructing you to move cups and plates for them instead of moving around you to place the food. No plates or cups cleared during our time there. Had to ask for second round of drinks as waiter not offered. Then was suddenly asked to move as time is up (no warning or anything, just told no you were warned 90 minutes is what you get). Restaurant was pretty empty with many other tables as well. Honestly a waste of money, lucky the view is nice.

I haven’t stayed here, but I drove up to attend one of the daily history tours as I have an old family connection with the original builders of the hotel. Our tour was led by James, and it was absolutely fantastic, even for someone like me who isn’t usually too interested in history. James really knew his stuff and gave a fascinating tour. The views are incredible and I would love to stay here one day.

The place itself is nice inside. The outside needs some work. The rooms are ok, but really small, considering you're paying top dollar. We had a mouse in our room the night that we stayed. Reception weren't overly helpful, and despite sending the hotel an email about it, nobody has responded apart from the initial 'we've passed that on to senior management and somebody will get back to you this week' email.I wouldn't recommend staying here and definitely won't be returning.

We booked a suite (approx $650 per night). Arrived and self parked. No porter to help with luggage. The original hotel reception is closed so you check in at the bar. No big issue. The we get instructions on how to get to our room. Down the hallway and then up the stairs. I asked whether I get our own bags and take them and the answer was “yes”. No one to take our bags to room. No big deal - except there are 3 flights of stairs to make it to the room. Not good. My wife and I had to take heavy bags up the stairs. I don’t expect that for $650 per night!Room was beautiful and had spectacular views of the valley. We went to the Wintergarden restaurant and it was also fantastic.Other thing that was a negative was the shower in the room we were in. It was a spa bath that you had to climb up 3 steps and then lower yourself into the spa bath in order to have a shower. Then all the water spills onto the surrounding room floor and flows back down the stairs. Really bad design. Also if you had any mobility issues there is no way you could use this room.Other than that was a great stay. The hotel needs some upkeep as well.

My Wife & I recently stayed for three nights at this hotel at the end of a six week tour of Australia, staying at many wonderful hotels. Location is certainly fantastic, & the hotel is full of history. Firstly, there was a mix up with their reservations department over our booking, which was for a twin room, but the hotel said it wasn't, & we were put on a waiting list" for one. After more correspondence

Great views from the room. Nicely furnished interior. But bathroom was cold as no heating there in winter. The bed was too soft so felt like it lacked support. Requested a quiet room at check in but was given a ground floor room. The noisy guests upstairs persisted through late night despite complaints to the reception. After reporting the issue the next day, they changed our room to the upper floor for the second. This should have been done when we checked in to avoid the issue. Nevertheless the soundproofing was nonexistent even at the upper floor. I think we had a more relaxing time back home in Sydney city. So won't be back here. Waste of money and energy.

Great experience. If you are going for the high tea, I thoroughly recommend either of the high tea options. Your choice if you go for sparkling wine or champagne. Its child friendly too which always helps. The views from the dining room are stunning wherever you are sat. So don't be disappointed if you don't have a window seat. In fact the non-window seats are roomier as you aren't back to back with other people.

I can't fault the service, the staff were all excellent. The location and views are spectacular as well. Plenty of parking (I recommend Street parking as it is closer to the entrance) and there are still echoes of old world charm. Yes the rooms are small and the breakfast isn't special but it is a great base for exploring the Blue Mountains or as a stopover as you cross the Great Dividing Range.

It was a dream of mine to stay there. It exceeded expectations on rooms, decor and the meal in Winter Garden was an 11out of 10. Stunning! Yes the rooms are tiny but that is from the era when it was built. Staff were all very knowledgeable and first class service. I’ll be back!

Stayed here some years ago before moving to the mountains, was lovely and weather was misty, wet and freezing and it was lovely to sit by the fire and just enjoy the atmosphere. Beautifully restored building and lovely place, fantastic fabrics and furnishings, beautiful view on a clear day. Bring your camera.
