Nice place to stay for the night , friendly staff ,good price .The only problem we had was that a strange person had still a key of our room and he came in to our room at night while we were sleeping, he switched on the light and as soon as he noticed we where in the room he left the premises. Our recommendations to the staff are they should make a chain at the door inside so guests can sleep without any concerns.

Very nice staff, the room is so big!I stayed 2nights in here with my friend, we both like it.They will clean the kitchen everyday, it's must better than another hostel.

Very good placement, room was okay. The receptionist that checked us out was nice, but the one checking us in was no help. Could not answer questions about parking, and failed to mention that you needed to rent cutlery. On the kitchen it said it was open from 8 am- 7 pm, or something and the receptionist said it might be open 24/7 but that helps little when you need breakfast earlier and are not sure

This place is run down and miss managed. Very dirty and unhygienic.Nearly everything here is broken or not maintained. The aircon and filter in our room was that full of dust I am convinced it has never been cleaned and I have had my fair share of hayfever for a lifetime. The towels had either rust or blood stains (couldn't tell which one) on them. We found bugs in the bed when we pulled back the sheets. The shower screen doesn't close so the floor gets soaked. The doors have holes and cracks in them. The toaster is completely melted. The freezer is that built up with frost I wouldn't fit 1 zooper dooper in it.I would recomend not leaning on the upstairs balustrade as it looks to not have much life left in it.This place is crying for some basic maintenance. Location is pretty good and the young lady that checked us in was very nice.

The dorm rooms are large including a living room area. An outdoor area on the first floor has a pool table and several picnic tables for those that want fresh air. Wi-Fi is solid. Air con in all rooms. Downsides are that reception hours are short and the facilities are quite outdated. Cabinets in the bathrooms are falling apart and the water pressure fluctuates in the shower. A bit dirty as well inside the rooms.

This place may be central to Cairns, as well as cater for backpacker on one side and overly priced private accommodation on the other but with either choice you will be making a BIG MISTAKE !!This would have to be the worst place to stay when enjoying Cairns. It is not only disgustingly filthy and managed buy staff that really don’t care unless it benefits them but everything they offer you (pool, amenities, kitchen Air/Con etc) are well used and abused, broken down and very old or don’t work at all.Do yourself a favour and enjoy the wonderfully stunning delights Cairns has to offer by not wasting your money and time at Koala! There are much better places to enjoy your stay in Cairns!

Run from this place, do not stay there. Yikes, horrible.I stayed one long night at this place during a recent trip to Cairns. It was so bad that we left a day early. The pool is so moldy and unkempt that the Daintree River had cleaner water than it did. I did not feel safe there either. The rooms have a small lock on the handle with no deadbolt, they could be easily carded and broken into. There were several unsavories nearby and in the property. One guy just using the free electric plug near the front door for hours, he did not even live there, creepy. There is marginal wifi in the public area, not in the rooms, plus no-one is there past 6pm. Kids are running around at 7am making noise.Using the word Resort" for this place is a complete joke too. The room we had was basic

Table had glass missing out of it. Such a hazard. No fridge. Aircon in front of a wall. Room didn’t cool down after hours. Reception didn’t no want to know about the problem. Booked somewhere else as very disappointed.

Place is very near to the esplanade, only 5 minutes in leisurely walk.Amenities are there as promised. But you can ask for something extra if needed. The man at the reception is very friendly.Check in and check out are quick and smooth.Only thing is that they don't clean the rooms every day. I stayed there for 3 days in a studio apartment, but couldn't get my room cleaned.Overall recommendable budget stay.
