Have just read the review given by Chris and felt I needed to reply.I have been taking my pets to Hugh for many years now without a problem and have recommended him to many people with great feedback.If a modern sterile reception area, a warm fuzzy greeting and a hefty price tag are important to you, this is not the vet for you. Have you looked up Hugh's qualifications?.They are outstanding.Hugh is not good at pleasantries but he is a great vet and you just have to see his cats lounging on the reception desk to see his love for animals.He keeps his prices down by not having the expensive facilities and I know he volunteers a lot of his services for free.His operating practices would have to be beyond reproach or he would have been shut down by now. Thank you Hugh.

As a registered breeders for many, many years, Hugh and Leah have been there to help myself and the husband through the good times and the bad with our breeding plan.Both have gone above and beyond with what you expect from a vet practise.A Vet that I highly recommend and will continue to take my precious pets to for as long as Hugh practises.ps..Don't judge a book by its' cover.

Wonderful. I wish I could give Hugh and the team more stars. They are incredibly friendly, helpful, generous with their time, and caring of distressed humans and animals both. They are also really reasonable in terms of affordability. I feel very lucky to have found such a great vet for our clumsy dog.

If i could rate them a zero i would, got our dog desexed through them. Firstly, the people working there were rude the entire time (enough for me to of gone somewhere else if it wasn't for the pound booking her in before we adopted her). Secondly, when our dog came out she was drenched in and smelling of urine, how long she was laying in it I'm not sure. The place did not look clean in any sense of the word. Wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They're cheap for a reason, don't go there. Have since heard they do desexing without anesthetic/only under local anesthetic, this is torturous and barbaric.

We run a rescue and this vet are very good supporters of our work. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't be able to save so many lives. Thank you very much for all of your help. We have been seeing them for over 10 years and never had an issue. Dr Hugh Bain is a very good surgeon and vet, he has helped so many of the sick animals we have rescued. We've had other vets not be able to do life saving surgeries but Dr Hugh was able to thus he saved their life. Dr Hugh really does care about animals and wants to help them this is why he tries to be as affordable as possible. His key hole surgery is amazing! I wish he was local, we travel from Newcastle to see him because he is that good

We have our three cats and two dogs cared for by this vet. He has a quirky personality, but is really fair in his pricing, unlike some other vets on the coast. If Hugh gives you something for your pet, it is absolutely essential.Hefty price tag? I doubt it.

My mother poured alot of money into this clinic with both of our pets, She raved about how wonderful Hugh was with the animals......i don't doubt his Vet skills/knowledge What i do not like is the fact they put my cat down by mistake, no signatures/confirmations required. Someone at the front counter clicked euthenaise" and he just did it with my mum there trying to keep my cat calm (who was in for a possible thyroid injection). He might be a good vet

My wife took one of our dogs there today for vaccinations. Hugh seemed to expect her to lift a large Siberian Husky X that weighs 27kg onto his bench. When my wife didn't take the 'non-verbal' hint he actually threw the hypodermic needle at our dog's back. It struck her & stayed hanged out of her back while he attended to another task, he then turned back to her and completed the injection.He checked her teeth, mumbled something about her having been 'backyard bred', sprayed something up her nose and then walked out.First and last last time we'll ever go there.

Our dog max we took there with the best care on the coast. Had a pin in his leg in 2 places. They were lovely. Tge vet is really good. Very smart man and good at what he does. 100% i take both our dogs there. And my dog before. Very affordable prices. Shop around. U will not get a smarter man.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this vet! Sadly we have had to have two dogs put down in the last twelve months & the most recent being today. Hugh came to our house to put our beautiful old girl to sleep at an extremely reasonable price. He is an absolute genius when it comes to animals. He may not be much of a people person, but what counts is his compassion towards the animals he deals with...I for one will say a massive thank you to you all, you are all wonderful...Kim
