The owner only hires young girls with filthy high school attitudes probably so he can groom them as he’s married to an extremely younger woman himself, I know the nephew of the owner and have been told disgusting things, food quality is terrible. The whole place has fallen in quality from staff to food to owner. God knows what goes on behind closed doors. Mick has really let the place go

We have loved ray jays over the past 5 years but quality has plummeted in recent months. My snapper tonight was the texture of chewy steak! The teenage staff just don't have enough experience to maintain the formerly great reputation of Ray Jay's. We won't be back.

Really disappointing experience. The fish in seafood basket for 2 was supposed to be whiting - it was not, nor was it fresh, barely a “seafood bite” size. The calamari was average, at best. The staff were pleasant enough, but food lacks quality, means we won’t be back. Sorry.

Visitors to area so checked rating before picking Fish n Chip shop. Really poor service, both the ladies were unfriendly. The youngest forgot to pack 2 battered sausages ($9.60), The chips almost burnt and the burgers disgusting. Threw most of the meal in bin, made toasted sandwiches for the family of 6.

One of the best seafood places on the coast, had a bloke playing guitar, and there is a bottle shop next door if you want to relax with dinner

Best fish and chips in the area. We go out of our way to go to Ray Jays because their serving sizes are great, the fish is always fresh (have had crumbed and grilled), the chips are always super crunchy with perfect amount of chicken salt and the service is always quick and easy.

Food was delicious. Have previously gone to The Spit in Mooloolaba for fish and chips but won't bother anymore, they're ridiculously busy (last time we went there at 6:20, they were going to be closed by the time we got to the front of the line, we were advised) and the quality has slipped over the years. The batter Ray Jays uses is amazing, the calamari was nice and soft and tasted fresh. Onion rings and sweet potato scallops were also great. Tartare sauce was delicious.Buy from here and drive a couple of streets to Alexandra headlands Hill and eat it there.

Asked for burgers previously and they have been sloppy with cooking and the assembly process went the other day and got potatoe scallops swimming in oil and drenched in chicken saltWhen asked plain or chicken salt I answer just a little but this is what I got way to heavy handed have seen them put salt on and they bang two shackles together while chatting away with friends and not looking at how much goes on music is absolutely to loud also will not be returning ever even though I’m at the end of the street I will be letting others know the quality

Fish and chips done right - Lovely food. Lovely service. Lovely atmosphere. The food here is fresh as, The batter used is amazing and the price is great. Tables scattered around the grass verge outside and often have live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. Byo or grab something to drink from the BWS next door. A hidden gem on the Sunshine coast!

We live locally and Ray Jays is our local fish and chip shop. Over the last 14 months we have noticed a significant change in the food. Tonight finally broke me, Ive hoped things would get better but they seem to be getting worse. we brought fish, chips and burgers tonight. They put the fish on top of the chips. The chips were hardly edible, soggy and shrivelled. Thankfully none of us are allergic to fish and would miss out on chips either!Rays needs a reset! You need to check the staff and their work ethic as well as their cooking skills. We spend $60 on average for our family meal and to many times over the past months we are super disappointed. I hate leaving bad reviews but things have to change.
