Peter’s Fish & Chips

We are locals and regular customers however will be avoiding Friday nights (our preferred) as waiting times are ridiculous. We constantly order over the phone and are told one time only to wait 15-30min longer than we’ve been told. Tonight we were told 35-40min and waited 1hr 16min. I have spoken to the owner who explained that it is too hard to predict more accurate times and there is nothing that could be done about it. It’s a real shame because the quality of the food is pretty good, particularly calamari.

I am perplexed by how arrogant and disloyal these owners were to us.I am a very patient and understanding person, I am open to discussion if a service isn’t met as I am a small business owner myself. I was in the area for work ( events ) and we had worked all day ... famished !Upon entering, we were served quick as their was only one customer waiting and it was 4pm. The food came out very fast and the fried food was good.Now for the turn of events....I have experienced bad souvlaki sauce in 2 shops prior with owners who weren’t from a Greek background. My quarrel isn’t with the ethnicity of the owners but the taste of what’s supposed to replicate a traditional fish and chip souvlaki. Whenever I go to a Greek or European fish and chip owned shop, the taste varies slightly but is always garlic sauce or Tzatziki. Upon entry, I asked the owner to confirm before wasting my money and ordering “do you use garlic sauce or Greek yogurt or Tzatziki in your souvlaki “ ? We repeated our selves 3 times when he replied yes yogurt ... we relayed “ Greek yogurt only “ ? He replied yes yes yes 3 times. Without hesitation, I went ahead and ordered the souvlaki and our fried food. We spent a total of $40 for 2 people.Upon opening my souvlaki, I could smell it wasn’t at all garlic ... let alone zesty, I didn’t even take a bite and instead dipped my finger in to taste the sauce. The sauce was horrid just like the last 2 places I experienced this type of sauce. It was sour and tastes more mayonnaise than anything.I told the owner he put the wrong sauce in and he said no it’s garlic. I then said please try the sauce because there isn’t one bit of garlic taste to this let alone Greek yogurt ( Tzatziki ). He immediately got defensive and said no it is and I said “ well then, you don’t make good sauce and lied to me because I asked you if it’s Greek Yogurt or garlic sauce and this is not it , please take it back and I’ll order something else”. He was so abrupt and had zero accountability for his customers feedback. He refused to offer me anything else to replace this nor a refund. His wife intervened and said, here please try this sauce from the bottle , I promise it’s the correct sauce we put in.I sampled it and it was the exact sauce in my souvlaki, horrid. Sour and resembles mayonnaise.The male owner said if I don’t like his then go to the places I like and eat it... ( besides the point as we asked before buying to avoid this very issue , what sauce he used or the ingredients in it )We then asked to see the yogurt tub to prove they were lying and he said get out of my shop or I’ll call the cops and by that point... both my business partner and I were outraged and left.They kept telling us it’s not their fault we don’t like the taste when in fact it 100% is because I asked specifically for a particular sauce and not whatever they make.I see in these reviews this isn’t the only bad review and especially regarding their customer service skills... and manner.I own 2 businesses and when a customer kindly complains , we simply resolve it because that’s pivotal to our business... even if we don’t agree let alone wasn’t our fault.This was their fault ... there is clearly a language barrier for them and they don’t adhere to a traditional souvlaki recipe. If you want a legitimate traditional sovalki... do not go here.Will never go back... and for the owners when you see this. Learn from your mistakes and be better or your small business won’t survive. You also need listen and not talk over customer when they are speaking to you... it’s hard to take on feedback but you won’t improve if it you don’t listen to respond... and I see you can’t afford anymore bad reviews.... wow hahahSending blessings to you and your business ....and whatever burdens you or causes your bad behaviour... When I called to make my order I was greeted with a very unhappy voice, who then proceeded to say *sigh* is that all" after ordering 15 dollers worth of food.When going to get the food I pull out my card and yet another dramatic *sigh* "there is a 50 cent surcharge".The food was terrible

The chips are really nice and crisp, I didn’t have to wait very long and the staff are just matter-of-fact and efficient. I was able to pay by card with a 50cent eftpos charge. All was cooked fresh and of course had the option of chicken salt. There are quite a few things on the menu and a wide selection of drinks. Due to Covid you can’t sit in there so it’s takeaway only but the park is just across the road including the public toilets and tennis courts so plenty to do just a walk away.

absolutely disgusting, worst fish and chips ever, threw in the rubbish bin, old frozen fish, soggy batter freshness of potato cakes and hot dogs is very questionable, tasted rank, never again. Charge more than other local shops and charge an extra $1 if you pay by card!

We had flake and chips very nice the batter was nice and light cost $8dollars each was but nice, we ate them in the car hot plenty of salt they are not chips without salt, only way really good service easy parking.

Food is quite reasonable most of the time, however there's a bit of a language barrier, and it's really quite hard to understand what the staffers are saying. Sometimes there's a taste of oil and it seems like they don't change their oil often. There's also no eftpos, and they're a bit light on the minimum" chips. They have their good days and bad days

Not a great deal of flavour in the hamburger unfortunately

Decent local fish & chip shop. Souvlaki is great, but things in the hot plate can be slow. Best to call and order ahead.

If you're going to put your prices up because lettuce is expensive($3) at least put it in my steak sandwich and we didn't get the potato cakes again. Will be looking for a new fish &chip shop.
