90 Degree Studio

I recently attended a Sound Production 101 course ran at 90 Degrees Studio in Newcastle.This was a part time fee-free 12 week course ran between 6-9pm every Monday and Tuesday evening by Allon Silove and his team of energetic colleagues.The course covered the following topics areas of tuition:SOUND THEORY, ANALOG AND THE HISTORY OF RECORDING, DIGITAL AUDIO THEORY, MICROPHONES, INTRO TO PRO TOOLS FOR RECORDING, RECORDING DRUMS/ELECTRIC GUITARS/ACOUSTIC GUITARS/BASS AND VOCALS, RUNNING A RECORDING SESSION (OVERALL), MIXING THEORY, LISTENING TO MIXES (COMMERCIAL TRACKS), INTRO TO PRO TOOLS FOR EDITING, BALANCING A MIX, INTRO TO PRO TOOLS FOR MIXING (ROUTING, BUSSING, SENDS, GROUPS), EQ, COMPRESSION, LIMITING, FX AND REFERENCE LISTENING IN THE CONTROL ROOM.Although the curricular specified initially looked like an impossibility to cover within the specified timescale, Allon and his team broke it down into manageable chunks, ensuring that the individual topics were covered at a level that was informative, understandable and most importantly, enjoyable to learn.I would without doubt recommend Allon and the 90 Degrees Studio team as an establishment you should choose to learn this course or any other music tuition they offer.I look forward to learning more about Ableton at 90 Degrees Studio with Huw Jones over the next few weeks.
