Wooyung Nature Reserve
Dinsdale! As it's affectionately referred to by true locals. I've had some of the best surfs ever there! The nice part about Wooyoung is that it's never changed. Not a great place for families with kids because of the open beach and lack of showers etc. But great for those trying to go to a beach with some peace and quiet

Mother nature at her best. Such a beautiful beach without having a skyline of buildings. Pack some food, something to drink, take a book or a mag..find a spot and relax on this beautiful natural beach.

Wooyung Nature Reserve is a great place for a walk along the water's edge. Not too many people, but lots of dogs, so beware. Lots of wild life, brahminy kits, sea eagles, and the funny waddling pied oyster catchers, so leave your dogs at home if visiting and give our native shorebirds a break. After all it is a nature reserve part of National Parks, and fines do apply. Eastern brown snakes have been spotted recently as the weather warms. As for swimming, please be careful as this is an open stretch of beach with lots of rips, and unexpected rogue waves. Stick close to shore, and pick the best part of the tide and weather conditions to take a dip. Nature at its best.

Wooyung Nature Reserve is a beautiful spot on the Tweed Coast, but beware of dogs. Even though dogs are prohibited, there still seems to be heaps. It's such a shame, people have been jumped on, attacked and had their bags, fishing gear etc peed on. The surf can be treacherous so not suitable for littlies, great if you are an experienced surfer and know how to read the surf. Lots of rips, but lovely for a stroll if you can avoid the pesky dogs.

There are a selection of great spots to park with quick access to the beach along the stretch of road that the wooyong reserve is located. Usually pretty easy to find a spot all to yourself for a beautiful nature/Bush walk. No access to the beach for 4x4 means you can enjoy the beach without the annoyance of cars

Great location to see the endangered Pied Oyster Catcher. Please protect this bird and other wildlife in the area. This is a Nature Reserve and dogs are strictly prohibited. Please be aware that Rangers will issue you with a fine if you have a dog in a Nature Reserve! There is an off leash area further north at Pottsville where you can take your dog. The Tweed Shire Council website will show you the exact location of the off leash area.

Awesome stretch of beach, but watch out for sharks. They seem to love this stretch of beach! Maybe it's all the fish the sharks come in chasing, or, the whales, but either way don't surf here unless you have a healthy appetite for risk.
