This place is amazing. After being in the mental health system and facility’s over the past 3 years I’ve never felt more like my normal self. I’m clean from substance’s for the first time in a long time, treated for mental health illnesses properly and it’s all thanks to Dr Sasha and the nursing team. I came from Brisbane to get help from this hospital after being put in the to hard basket from every hospital in QLD. I’m very great full for this place and the staff and continue to stay in Sydney for the amazing outpatient programs.

Reviewing as an outpatient who has been single handedly saved by psychiatrist Mike Atherton. Very blessed to have been understood and guided through treatment at the Sydney Clinic by him. HOWEVER, there is an older receptionist at the desk of the consulting rooms who is undoubtedly the most rude, abrupt and unhelpful grouch to walk planet earth. For the consulting rooms, a place there to HELP the struggling- this human is responsible for a lot of our appointment stress and anxiety when we call the front desk. Hope she one day finds peace

My psychiatrist did a lot of work to get accreditation with Brontë clinics for me to do day program groups.I rang a number of times over the last two months and girl on Desk told me jas was in charge of Day programs . . I emailed jas and rang Brontë clinic a number of times with no reply or success.. Girl on desk was unhelpful. There is no general manager to help me and I left feedback on the forms on the website provided saying no one was helping to book in and Jas was not replying! Two months still no reply. You would expect better role modelling of respectfull communication.I did day groups last year and there and there were two staff who were helpfull in booking me into groups.I feel very disrespected. and ignored.

The Sydney Clinic deserves far more than the previous reviews. It’s an excellent facility with clinical staff and nurses who are easy to approach and are well vested in their patients’ recoveries from mood disorders and/or substance misuse. In my case it was both and I found the clinic to well support my desire to attend 12 step meetings in the community (with as much leave as needed to do so) while providing individual and group therapy in-house. You meet with a designated Psychiatrist twice weekly to address any concerns, medication and individual progress. Although this is a mental health facility, you have many freedoms including the ability to keep your phone, take personal leave during the week and weekends as needed, and remain connected with outside commitments and family. Yes, there are rules and obligations to follow, but as long as you come in with the attitude that you want to get better and make the most of your stay the staff will work with you on specific requests and keep you comfortable and safe. From my experience, it are those who attempt to use alcohol or illegal substances on site that were not able to complete their stay. The rooms are comfortable with air conditioning and individual bathrooms that feel like a 3 or 4 star hotel. The food is decent with a salad bar although it can be a bit heavy at times and if you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements be sure to make sure to note this on or before your intake. The clinic is close to the beach in a safe neighborhood within walking distance to shops and recovery (A.A./N.A./SMART) meetings. There’s a bus stop to Bondi Junction Westfield directly out the front of the building which you can visit in spare time. Overall, a great safe stay and would recommend to anyone who is struggling. Thank you especially to the 24/7 nurses with a special shout out to Ahmed, Jorge, Liz, Matt, Michelle, and Yuka! They work around the clock as it relates to patient comfort, safe medication dispersal, and keeping everyone informed of the day’s activities.

Drug use and distribution are rampant throughout this place. My experience with psychiatrist Sasha toywoski was that she was arrogant, disregarded my opinion entirely, and gave me the least amount of time she possibly could, when her alarm timer went off she was out off their. She wrote me a scathing and borderline defamatory discharge summary which no doubt is an attempt to keep me kept in the cycle of medication misuse that is Sydney clinic. The place is terribly understaffed. There are a few GOOD employees left to pick up the slack of overworking and those who see the job as a means to load her pocket. she doesn’t care for patient health. Very fitting for a drug-mill of an institution of a similar calibre. The only ‘rehabilitation centre’ you leave worse off than when you go inGranted this was my experience with my psychiatrist and staff I interacted with there are a few amazing workers who went above and beyond to pickup the slack.

My sister has been in and out so many times - returns with worse attitude and is verbally and physically abusive to entire family. How can they send a person home like that? She has BPD and they don't understand or care about how she abuses her family. She has them all wrapped around her finger! Pathetic

I've been trying to get in touch for an admission for what feels like forever and no one has gotten back to me. I've rang and emailed every other day and yet no help, let alone any sort of communication. My details apparently keep getting 'passed on' but no one has called me or communicated anything. This is extremely disheartening when you are trying to get psychiatric help. Please work on this, so many people need help.

I have had an amazing experience with The Sydney Clinic so far! In 72 hours I received 2 call backs from reception and a spot in their inpatient program. This was however because they had beds available and my situation could be different to others. But their response time was exquisite. Really friendly reception and I'm excited to go to their inpatient program. I'll leave a review then too.-CL

I wish to give it a zero star if I could. Do not book appointments here! They cancel your appointments without telling you and tell you the booking was unsuccessful. Dr Candice Jensen is frequently on annual leave and the Clinic refuse to disclose when doctors are free for you to book appointments.

Consider avoiding The Sydney Clinic. There are much better inpatient clinics, with more caring and engaged staff, superior facilities and less of a relentless profit motive. TSC is more of a warehouse than a rehab facility, though the insurance companies will pay out tens of thousands for your stay. Some doctors are extraordinarily negligent in completing paperwork, it will take you multiple follow up calls and consultations to make any progress at all- and in some cases you won’t even find out they never did the essential paperwork until years later.Be aware: the doctors attending to patients at The Sydney Clinic are not employees of the Sydney Clinic: they just rent rooms from them. TSC has no responsibility or oversight as to the quality of services provided by the doctors- and any complaints you may have must be taken up with the doctors directly, or else with AHPRA. If a doctor is negligent or abusive it will have nothing whatsoever to do with TSC- they will immediately wash their hands of it. If the doctor no longer practices at TSC then they will claim to have no knowledge of their existence. It's possible that they may even still practice there- either way, it has nothing to do with them. It’s a real shame that the mental health industry has been overrun by large conglomerates guided solely by profit motives- vulnerable people who aren’t likely to have the wherewithal to stand up for themselves have been transformed into a revenue stream. The minimal follow up there is is centred around getting patients in for super expensive consultations ($350 for a 5-8 minute session- though there may be a partial rebate through Medicare) or further inpatient admissions- it’s a revolving door where they have little motive to actually see a patient’s condition improve. Some of the rooms are quite nice, and most of them are for single occupants- so it’s got that going for it! And the location is nice, too.
