Sounds Of When

Sounds Of When was absolutely fantastic to deal with. My experience began when Brad freely gave advice about a vintage Pioneer SX-828 receiver I was considering buying, including in relation to audio performance and a cost estimate for a full restoration. Having bought it, I got good advice on packaging for transport (from country Victoria to Western Australia). The turnaround from me dropping off the receiver at my local post office to a fully restored received being back at my place was around two weeks, with progress reports along the way following an initial assessment. I could not be happier. Every aspect of this transaction was first class.

I recently had the opportunity to purchase a fully restored AU- Sansui 7700 amp that had been given a new lease of life by Brad Williams from Sounds of When.I had been using a Tube Amp for the past couple of years and although very happy with the result I was looking for an Amp.that would provide a similar tonal response as the Tube Amp. but also provide me with some extra'' options such as Bass

My Yamaha CA610 was in a very sorry state when I sent it to Brad. Looked like it had been stored in a garden shed for decades. Moisture damage to the knobs, a corroded top vent & and signs of internal corrosion. Then Brad got his hands on it. The transformation of this 43 year old classic has been amazing. Fully rebuilt both inside & out, it's now a thing of beauty. A fully functioning work of 70's Japanese electronic art. It's amazing. And it sounds fantastic. I can't recommend this bloke enough.

My beautiful old girl is nearly 50 years old and she was showing it. Most people told me that she was not worth saving but look at her, how could I throw her away? Brad's prices are extremely reasonable, very, very fair, but even so I probably wouldn't recoup my investment if I wanted to sell her. But that just isn't the point is it?After a complete restoration she is almost like new and she sounds sublime. I know she is only an entry level amp, and there is much better out there, but when I listen to her I am instantly transported to when I was listening to music back in my room at college in the early 70s.Thank you, Brad, for skilfully bringing her back to life and here's to many more years from her.Needless to say I thoroughly recommend Brad, not only as a highly skilled technician but also as a friendly and welcoming person.

I got in contact with Brad after my Pioneer SA9100 went into protection mode. Brad has exceeded all expectations, excellent communication, excellent workmanship/quality of work preformed and the turn around time was amazingly quick. If you are considering any repairs or restoration works on a vintage amplifier then look no further, I don't think there is anybody in Australia that is currently operating on Brads level when it comes to repair and restoration.Thanks for bringing my Pioneer SA9100 back to life, she is sounding fantastic.

Brad restored a vintage Sony STR-230A for me recently and he went above and beyond with his level of detail during the work he carried out. His communication was flawless and he provided a visual record of the work so that no stone was left unturned. His pricing was very fair for the level work carried out and I plan to engage Brad again for more restoration work in the coming year.

We recently had Brad restore our much loved Sony TA-1150 amp and we couldn't be happier with the work that he did. The amp was dead on arrival at his workshop (which surprised us both!) so he tracked down a new power supply from the US and brought the amp back to life. He kept us in the loop all through the process and gave his honest opinion about whether it was worth it to replace the power supply and get the amp running again. We are very happy with our new" old amp that sounds great

Brad beautifully restored my 1975 Rotel RX-802. The transformation both aesthetically and audibly is amazing. So happy with the craftmanship and results of the restoration.
