Acacia Modern Japanese Dining
Visited this restaurant for a mid-week lunch with a colleague and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Located at the rear of the old Gordon post office and overlooking the station, it is bright and airy. The chef was a one-man-band on the day, taking our orders as well as cooking the meals which were fresh and filling. The lunch set meals for around $22 are recommended. Being a weekday we were the only ones there so had the place to ourselves. Located 2 minutes walk from Gordon station, plenty of parking in the council carpark at the rear.

Food was delicious and alot of attention had been made to the presentation of each dish, However it took 50 mins to get our first dish of Edemame. At the hour mark we had the ask where our drinks were.Over the next 90 minutes food came out slowly. By the end we missed out on 2 dishes that we had ordered.The staff were not able to accept process the bill and we had to wait for the chef so I could swipe my card.It appeared to be a busy night with a full house and only 1 chef and 2 wait / kitchen hands.A little tip you need more trained staff including another cook.

I was initially disappointed with the menu but was pleasantly surprised by the actual dishes brought out. Every dish tasted really yummy and presentation was great. View of the carpark wasn't too bad. Service was great considering it was just one last serving the whole place all night! I think chef also went an extra mile with making sure the food was amazing. We'll be back!

Andre and his team serve up excellent Japanese cuisie with a very personable service. Definitely one of the better (if not best) in and around the Gordon area.If you're interested in some authentic Japanese - you must check it out.

Just spent a great day having lunch at Acacia. Food and service was superb! Dont go through life without trying the soft shell crab tacos and their wagyu beef!

Waited 2+ hrs for mains, place not busy. Entrees average, mains very ordinary. Super expensive for the lack of quality you get. Wouldnt survive a week close to the city/ eastern suburbs……….

Great location with excellent parking spots near gordon station! It also means you can eat and ride the train whether you have brought a car or not. The dim lights also made up a nice atmosphere with comfortable seats. The chicken katsu curry was phenominal with the addition of steamed rice. Soft shell crab was also quite juicy and crunchy. The dessert (Hokkaido lemon cheesecake) though did not match the price tag of $12, was very simple and only served a very limited amount.

Great location and atmosphere at the Acacia Modern Japanese Dining. Good is fresh and presented simply, using the Japanese style of adding very little to the main ingredients, yet still coming up with delicious dishes. Good selection of drinks and reasonable in price.

DisappointingI feel bad writing this review but I think it needs to be said.I do think this restaurant is in trouble. A lot of reviews comment on only 1 server and this was the case for us as well but the restaurant wasn’t busy, so this wasn’t an issue.As we were leaving there was a table near the exit and it was lined with dirty dishes, which looked terrible.The restaurant food is priced upmarket, but definitely not to that standard.Our bill was well over $100, so I expect good quality food ….Ordered a glass of Red wine…. It tasted like the bottle was opened for over a weekTempura zucchini flowers… tastelessSalmon sashimi …… Perfect and freshGrilled Salmon….. So many bones, every mouth full had at least 5 bones. Picking them out of your mouth wasn't a good lookShare platter, we ordered 2 …..Crab claw…. Frozen typeOctopus ball…. Frozen typeSalmon on a cracker…… tasted like salmon on a cracker.Soft-shell crab taco… cold and horrible ( I couldn’t eat it)If this restaurant is in trouble, I feel for them but I also work hard for my money and I expect quality.

Acacia Modern Japanese Dining
The sashimi here is amazing. So beautifully cut, the chef knows his cuts. Other dishes on the menu have changed which was disappointing as can be hit and miss. This place isn’t a fast feed so grab a bottle of wine and enjoy the company as they are a bit short on staff.
