With regard to food and drinks, this place should be a gold mine. Only place for kilometres and I mean kilometres. I've been travelling through this place for years and once (20 years ago) it was a nice place to stop for a break and stretch of the legs. Instead it is these days, a sad excuse for a cafe/shop. The coffee I had tasted like it came out of the muddy Darling River that passes through the township. That's even with a so-called coffee machine. The food, well let's not even start. Having worked in a cafe in the middle of nowhere, a bit of pride goes a long way. Just because this is in Wilcannia is no excuse for the low standards of food and beverage especially when you have a captured audience like you do. Then again, sometimes that's the reason for the substandard service.

Great to stop to revive, refresh and survive. Had nice on go breakfast Aussie style breakfast burger, was spot on. Recommended for travellers for a rest stop also have accomodation but its in Western NSW so its suitable for place to sleep going by other reviews.

So expensive Guys who work there are nice but they charge you anything they want for food.

While we managed to get some much needed petrol, we were very disappointed to find no food. Such a remote roadhouse could really monopolize on feeding people who are hungry. Kimba road house is a good example of a remote roadhouse that is fulfilling this need. Good luck with your future endeavors ✌️

Booked a room with Connor recently and told him I would be arriving on the 9pm bus and he said no probs just press the buzzer at reception and he will give me the room key. I arrived right on 9 and no one there to let me in even though it says open till 9:30. I was left in the dark with nowhere to go in Wilcannia! DO NOT TRUST THEM TO BE THERE. Never again!!!!!

Overpriced food. The sandwiches I bought were disgusting and very stale. Warning, do not purchase food at this place.

Travelled through on 25/11/21. Staff in Fuel and Cafe pleasant and helpful. Don’t let the look of the place turn you away ( construction happening on bowser forecourt- Barricades and Dirt piles). Food order prepared cooked well and very hot! Bainmarie food fresh and hot. Fuel price 10c cheaper than other A32 towns. No toilets on site - go just 300m west to public clean toilets-at Footy grounds nearby Dump point in highway. Good area to rest and eat.Note: lots of people forget that everyone has different cultural experiences- all you need is respect and manners. They are free.

It is open... food is good...if travelling late stay in Cobar or broken Hill
